Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000

Platte Woods Church is an inclusive Christian non-profit congregation in Platte Woods, Missouri (Platte County) in the Northland of Kansas City, roughly 10 miles north of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. With over 1000 members, Platte Woods Church invites all people to experience abundant life through authentic relationships with Jesus and one another. PWC offers multiple worship experiences, including children, youth, small group, and senior adult ministries, and community service opportunities in partnership with Hillcrest, Della Lamb, Lazarus Table, and other local mission and ministry partners. JOB OVERVIEW: The Director of Worship will create and coordinate all Platte Woods Church worship experiences. This job includes but is not limited to, working with the pastoral and administrative staff to develop and sustain a long-term vision for the future of worship within and beyond PWC and coordinate with all worship teams to execute weekly worship experience with excellence, focusing on the goals and objectives set by senior leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES                                               

  • Execute the mission, vision, and values of Platte Woods Church to the best of your abilities.
  • Curate the worship life and formation of the congregation across generations and traditions.
  • Build upon the history of worship excellence that has existed at PWC for generations.
  • Cultivate a rhythm of worship opportunities, including weekly worship, liturgical services, and new experiences.
  • Work with the worship team to build up leaders in all areas of worship. 

RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED

  • Coordinate long-term Worship planning with staff and volunteers.
  • Create an effective schedule for worship preparation.
  • Work alongside other ministry leaders to promote cohesion between all areas of the church.
  • Work alongside the welcome and connections coordinator to foster the vision of invitation into full life in worship.
  • Communicate the artistic vision of the worship series from leadership to graphic designer, videographer, technology director, and stage design volunteers.
  • Lead weekly worship team meetings.
  • Assist team leads in recruiting, equipping, and sustaining volunteer teams.
  • Coordinate stage design with volunteers to create engaging stage elements.
  • Be present and participate in staff gatherings including meetings, trainings, and retreats.
  • Establish a mentor outside of the church to continue to grow and be formed.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Preferred degree in theology or ministry with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred degree in music with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Able to lead traditional and modern worship teams as spiritual and music leaders.
  • Able to work with creative and structural latitude.
  • Experience or formation in a United Methodist or other mainline tradition preferred.
  • Have a working knowledge of Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to complete a background check and complete Safe Gatherings training.

WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE:   

  • Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing diverse worship styles.  
  • Volunteer recruitment and training for work in the non-profit sector.
  • Holistically inclusive organizational training.

ADDITIONAL RELEVANT EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION: 

  • Coordinate or participate in large production events (concerts, theater, etc.)
  • Music education for children and students.
