Job Description:

Hanover First Church of God (HFCOG) has an opening for a full time Pastor of Discipleship and Care. This individual will champion our mission of loving God, serving others, and sharing Jesus by creating a culture of discipleship that's integrated into all that we do at HFCOG. The qualified individual will have a love for people and a desire to see them grow in their upward relationship with God, inward relationship with themselves, and outward relationship with others.

The Pastor of Discipleship will strive to create a missional culture within the HFCOG community. The candidate should be passionate about making disciples who replicate themselves in the lives of others.

The Pastor of Discipleship will take the lead in overseeing all discipleship initiatives of HFCOG while developing an ongoing strategy to reach out to our community through service projects, evangelism events, and other initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a strategy for HFCOG’s Group Ministry to be the primary avenue for the assimilation and spiritual growth of new and current attendees. This strategy will include the continuous launch of new groups, as well as recruiting, training, and empowering group leaders so that they are personally growing and reproducing themselves in future leaders.
  • Ensure quality teaching at all spiritual growth courses (baptism class, foundations class, partnership class, starting point class, etc).
  • Work with the communications director to market groups and creatively communicate stories of life-change and transformation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS

  • A genuine love for God and others exhibited through an authentic, Christ-centered lifestyle.
  • Must be in full agreement with the doctrine of the Churches of God, General Conference. 
  • Must be in full agreement with the mission and vision of HFCOG.
  • Exhibit skills in leadership and team-building.
  • Exhibit vision, passion, and execution in the development of discipleship ministry.
  • A bachelor's degree in discipleship or a related ministry field is preferred. Seminary experience is a plus but not a requirement.
  • If not currently credentialed by Churches of God General Conference, he/she must successfully pass a theological exam conducted by the Eastern Region Conference Churches of God Commission on Credentialing and Placement.
  • Must complete all required clearances and background checks as required by HFCOG and the state of Pennsylvania.
