Goal

Generation Church’s vision is to be disciple-making followers of Jesus and the focus of everything we do is discipleship! Since we believe discipleship begins with relationships we are actively seeking someone who is highly relational and believes in building people. This person will lead and oversee discipleship at Generation Church.  

Overview

Discipleship is the lifelong journey of becoming like Jesus. It’s a process that we walk through, and help others walk, for all of life. We believe that discipleship happens best in the community! We are looking for someone who values relationships, understands how to help people find community, and is fully committed to helping people say YES to Jesus.  

You don’t have to have it “all figured out”, but if you are relational and passionate about building people, this may be the next “yes” that Jesus is calling you to.

Expectations

• This is a full time position with semi-flexible office hours and PTO.
• Work schedule needs to meet the rhythms of the people of Generation. Most work hours will happen during the daytime, but flexibility in the evenings and on weekends is essential, as those may be the best times to effectively connect with and build our people.
• Be fully aligned with our beliefs, mission, vision, and values.
• Possess the ability to effectively teach and lead in one-on-one settings, as well as small and large group settings.
• Have the drive and ability to get your job done without excessive supervision.
• Be an engaged and collaborating member of the leadership team.
• Bring new ideas to the table and don't shy away from sharing them.
• Have fun because we like to laugh! We want to add someone to our team that is serious about their responsibilities but doesn’t take themselves too seriously. If you can pull off a good prank, you will fit in.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and grow our current Discipleship Pathway, which includes 3 key areas:
  • Connect
  • Grow
  • Thrive
• Oversee current Connect & Growth Groups and start and oversee new ones.
• Raise up, empower leaders, and share responsibilities for leading the Discipleship Team.
• Be willing and capable to speak during the weekly services (as needed).
• Oversee the shepherding (pastoral care) ministry at Generation. This will include maintaining the existing team members and building new ones to help meet needs of our church body.
• Oversee all next steps people at Generation may take, such as, but not limited to:
• Lead our Frontline (first impressions) team
• Lead Next Steps classes
• Plan and coordinate baptism
• Follow-up with all first time and newer guests to Generation
• Pursue and challenge our existing church body to take their next step
• Maintain a discipleship presence in the lobby.
• Be a visible and engaging presence at the weekend services to connect with the church body.
• Be prepared to contribute to the leadership team with the completion of “all-in” tasks. Your job description will take 70% to 80% of your job, the remaining 20% to 30% will be filled with projects and tasks that support the church body and leadership team in other ways.
