Blackhawk Ministries is also home to Blackhawk Christian School, which our founding pastor, Dr. David Jeremiah, began in 1973 with 33 students enrolled. Five decades later, we continue to grow and thrive, with 100+ faculty and staff serving over 1,000 Pre-K through 12th-grade students. With over 150,000 square feet of facility and a newly-renovated worship center that seats 1600, our church and school are well poised for city and regional impact.

Purpose:

The role of the Blackhawk Kids Director is to provide leadership, development, and direction for the Kids leaders and volunteers as it pertains to the vision, mission, and strategy of all environments of Blackhawk Ministries. The Kids Director provides direct oversight to all Children’s Ministries (birth – 4th grade), which includes Sunday morning Children’s Ministry programs for both worship service times and Children’s Ministry-related events outside of Sunday morning.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision, strategy, and development for children's ministries from birth through 4th grade
  • Provide leadership, direction, training, and oversight for all Kids leaders and volunteers with a willingness to address areas of growth by balancing truth and grace
  • Build and equip the necessary teams to execute engaging ministry for all children
  • Develop and maintain safe, secure, clean, and aesthetic childhood learning environments
  • Encourage parents as the primary spiritual leaders in their child's life and provide the tools they need for spiritual leadership
  • Seek to develop relationships with families and connect with parents and children regularly on Sunday mornings and throughout the week
  • Work closely with the Next Gen staff (Middle School Director) to ensure a smooth transition of students to youth ministry
  • Create and effectively manage the Kids budget
  • Oversee the Kids section of the church website in collaboration with the Communications Team
  • Provide opportunities for ministry—local and global outreach

Work Skills:

  • Demonstrated a track record of spiritual maturity and character consistent with the biblical requirements for leadership (1 Timothy 3:17, Titus 1:6-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4)
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and ministry philosophy of Blackhawk Ministries
  • Passion for children's ministry
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication
  • Proven organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain organized systems
  • Technological proficiency with Planning Center Online and Google Workspace (or similar platforms)

Expectations for staff at Blackhawk Ministries

  • Fully back the vision and strategic direction of the Lead Pastor/Elders
  • Agree with the Blackhawk Ministries Statement of Faith (and other docs/statements/ministry distinctives)
  • Be a tithing member
  • Participate in a Small Group (either as a member or leader)
  • You will report to the Next Gen Pastor and connect regularly through 1:1 meetings
  • Your full-time position will be between 43-48 hours of work per week
