SCOPE: The AVL Systems Lead will play a pivotal role in delivering top-tier live, recorded, and broadcast audio, lighting, and video. This person will instill a vision for AVL across all campus locations. The role emphasizes lighting in addition to audio mixing excellence, tech team development, and creativity in enhancing the worship experience.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position exists to serve NONACHURCH by creating opportunities for people to take their next best step in following Jesus in our weekly worship services, by crafting engaging, distraction-free environments via video, lighting, audio, and visual experiences.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Lighting & Visual
- Develop and implement a lighting & stage strategy to enhance creativity and visual impact during services.
- Design, program, repair and operate lighting and special effects elements for all services and events.
- Recruit and train a dedicated team to support live event lighting production.
- Mentor and support lighting leaders within the team.
- Maintain & grow our use of LED walls, projection systems, etc.
- Grow and maintain all resources within the NONACHURCH ecosystem.
- Build and help strategize best practices for staging.
- Maintain and service all equipment proactively.
Audio
- Be one of the primary audio engineers for NONACHURCH.
- Develop the NONACHURCH “sound” and audio experience.
- Monitor, develop, and maintain broadcast audio.
- Lead, manage, and grow audio volunteers, contractors, and teams to ensure exceptional audio quality during services and events.
- Educate and resource team members as well as provide consistent feedback.
- Collaborate with the tech team to facilitate all weekend experiences.
- Collaborate with other audio engineers to maintain consistent audio quality across all locations.
- Provide sound for audio-related activities and projects for weekend services and required special church events.
- Manage & maintain the stage and FOH at both locations – ensure that the platform is in peak condition, stages are safe, cables are wrapped, and taped down & stage cleanliness is maintained at all times.
- Manage & maintain all AVL equipment – including repairs, maintenance and installations as needed.
- Provide vision along with AVL systems leadership for audio design for our venues.
Live Video & Broadcast
- Partner with Digital Evangelism Director and AVL Systems Lead(s) in the development and execution of a broadcast strategy, delivering top-tier video quality for in-room, online, and campus services.
- Continue to develop our RESI strategy for weekend broadcast (currently using multi-site).
- Oversee pre-production and post-production activities, ensuring excellent video content.
- Recruit, train, develop and schedule a dedicated team for weekend broadcast video.
- Develop and nurture the NONACHURCH online experience.
- Maintain and service all equipment proactively.
ADDITIONAL AREAS OF LEADERSHIP & PARTICIPATION
- Actively engage in weekly staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with leadership, and bi-monthly All-Staff meetings.
- Collaborate with Digital Evangelism Director and AVL Systems Lead(s), worship & production team to achieve shared goals and perform additional duties as needed.
- Collaborate with the Digital Evangelism Director and AVL Systems Lead(s) on recording projects, AVL projects, and any other projects deemed necessary within the role.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IS/HAS
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Audio production (live and studio), broadcast (preferred but not necessary), lighting, and audio roles (Formal training is preferred but not required)
- Experience with DAW’s such as Ableton, Logic Pro, and Pro Tools
- A clear understanding of the implementation and use of Dante audio networking
- Experience with Allen & Heath & Digico Audio Consoles
- Experience and implementation with WAVES in a live setting
- Deep knowledge of ProPresenter
- Ample leadership experience with the ability to train team members
- Ability to clearly identify, communicate and proactively work towards distinct outcomes
- Proven experience building and managing a production team
- Highly organized – thus able to manage multiple tasks in a growing, fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated, willing to engage in both simple and complex tasks
- Willingness to travel between locations as necessary (20min commute)

Hours: This is a full-time salaried, exempt ministerial position.
