Rising Sun Church of Christ (RSCC) is the largest church in the small community of Rising Sun, IN. Located directly on the Ohio River, Rising Sun is rich in history and community, but there is an obvious need for Jesus. RSCC has doubled in size since a staffing change in 2023, and they are so excited about this growth. They are seeing people step into church for the first time, as well as many who are returning after years of being separated from their faith. Their growth is not only rapid right now, but it is hugely impactful in their city. 

RSCC is a multi-generational, non-denominational church. They exist to call people to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. The church is elder-led and pastored by Shane White. Pastor Shane accepted the call to serve as Lead Pastor in 2023 and started on Easter Sunday. RSCC offers two identical modern worship services at 8:30 AM & 10:45 AM on Sunday mornings. The church averages more than 400 in attendance between worship and kids ministry on Sunday morning. They are meeting in-person weekly and livestreaming on both Facebook and Youtube.

The church is seeking the right candidate to step into a brand new role as the Next Steps Pastor to oversee their assimilation process and groups. The right candidate for this role will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide leadership for discipleship, assimilation, and volunteer development ministries of RSCC:

• Work alongside the Lead Pastor in the vision to call people to know, love, and serve Jesus. Weddings, funerals, and other pastoral care duties as needed.
• Direct oversight with Next Steps volunteers (greeting team, welcome center, classes and groups, first impressions, prayer and care team, etc...).
• Implement and adhere to policies and processes for the engagement of attendees.
• Oversee the system that tracks a guest from their first visit through being fully engaged at RSCC.
• Provide support and resources to help build a Guest Services team.
• Build and track a system of connection and discipleship growth.
• Implement and grow an effective group system.
• Recruit, train and develop volunteer group leaders.
• Oversight of Starting Point class and other discipleship opportunities.
• Assimilate new members, first time guests and new Christians as they become fully devoted followers of Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrates wisdom in decisions and actions.
• Outgoing and engaging personality with a strong passion for Next Steps ministry and volunteer development.
• A team player and team builder who focuses on the good of the entire church.
• Willingness to align and affirm with the beliefs of the Rising Sun Church of Christ.
• Education
• A Bachelor’s degree preferred from a Bible college preferred, not required.
• Experience
• 3+ years of full-time ministry experience preferred.
