Job Title: Family and Kids’ Pastor
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Workdays/Hours: Full-Time, Exempt: salary. Religious worker not covered by FLSA. Not entitled to overtime or minimum wage.
Weekend Responsibilities: Minimum of 40 hours per week, Sunday – Thursday with occasional Friday/Saturday for church events and other duties
EEOC Qualifications: This is a full-time FLSA-exempt ministerial position.
Reports To: Generations Pastor
MINISTRY PURPOSE: This position is responsible for casting vision, leading, and directing the Kids’ Ministry (K-5th) in making disciples and equipping leaders while keeping with Turning Point Community Church’s mission of “Changed Lives. Period.” The Family and Kids’ Pastor should be an experienced, energetic, attractional leader who is passionate about helping children and families know Jesus and can gather, inspire, and equip volunteers to do the same.
MINISTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Character:
- A mature follower of Jesus Christ who demonstrates a passionate call to kids’ ministry.
- Demonstrate a lifestyle and family life that is consistent in word and practice with the teaching of Jesus Christ. Consistently meets and strives to maintain the leadership character qualifications as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 “…above reproach, sober minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach...filled with gentleness.”
- Possess an inspirational and influential personality who champions the gospel with boldness and creativity.
- Advance TPCC’s culture of grace seeking unity in the essentials, charity in the nonessentials, and exalting Christ in all things.

- Demonstrate experience in recruiting, empowering, administering, and leading effective ministry teams.

Job Responsibilities:
Visionary Leader who casts and communicates vision for a strong and vibrant Kids’ Ministry that results in transforming generations one little life at a time:
- Lead large group worship by being the primary communicator during Sunday Mornings, midweek, and events.
- Shepherd, care for and pastor all Kids’ Ministry staff and volunteers.
- Spiritually lead all programming by ensuring that volunteer leaders present scripturally accurate teaching with a primary focus on each child’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Serve as quality control for all Kids’ Ministry programming and environments
- Oversee, review, and evaluate curriculum and lessons regularly to ensure materials presented are in line with advancing, the mission, strategy, vision, and values of TPCC.
- Strategically integrate Kids’ Ministry into the overall mission and vision of the church.
- Participate in the planning, programming, and implementation of church-wide
Recruit, train, encourage and position KM staff and volunteers to advance a culture of service throughout Turning Point Community Church:
- Take lead on recruiting and training for all KM volunteers.
- Motivate and empower leaders to initiate volunteer recruitment through personal relationship building.
- Ensure (i) initial onboarding and continual training and discipleship of KM staff and volunteers and (ii) teachers and volunteers are supplied and prepared for their acts of service.
- Supervise, empower, and ensure the fulfillment of support staff in their respective roles, responsibilities, tasks and functions.
Champion family discipleship within TPCC Kids’ Ministry:
- Commit to assist and support parents in the shepherding and intentional discipleship of their children.
- Shepherd, welcome, encourage, and maintain an environment that connects what is going on during Sunday mornings with families at home.
- KM attendance goals weekly average is equal to 20-25% of our weekly worship attendance and (ii) KM represents 25% or more of annual baptisms.
- Develop and advance family discipleship initiatives to empower parents to lead and raise mature, Bible-savvy young Christians fully prepared to compassionately engage the world for the glory of God and well-equipped to serve their God, family, and community.
Champion family discipleship within TPCC Kids’ Ministry: (cont’d)
- Equip and encourage team members to address parents and children with a heart of compassion, understanding, and deference in all situations and recruit the help and guidance of KM Staff when warranted.
- Ensure the database, security, and check-in processes are enhancing the overall ministry goals and experience while protecting children, families, and the church.
Design excellent, creative, safe, and hazard-free Kids’ Ministry venues and spaces:
- Ensure Kids’ Ministry spaces are safe, clean, resourced on a weekly basis.
- Monitor classroom ratios and ensure safe and effective discipleship environments.
- Take lead on creating an excellent and aesthetically pleasing KM environment.
Pastor Kids’ Ministry administration:
- Oversee an annual Kids Ministry budget and steward that budget by keeping it in line with the overall mission and vision of TPCC.
- Perform due diligence to ensure cost efficient purchasing of curriculum, equipment, and attractional experiences.
- Monitor budget expenditures to ensure fiscal integrity and validate the need for over-runs, if
- Manage the overall accuracy, use, and effectiveness of the database, rosters, and communications in CM.
Miscellaneous:
- Any other duties as assigned by the Generations Pastor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: College degree. Ministry education preferred.
Experience:
3-7 years of related experience serving in a ministry specific leadership capacity, 2 years management experience or a combination there of. Kids’ ministry experience is strongly preferred. Strong leader with a solid work ethic, a passion for teaching children about Christ, and the commitment to walk alongside families as they disciple their children. Creative ability to develop and implement intentional KM programming, discipleship initiatives, activities, and special events.
Skills:
- Passion to influence and continue to seek innovative ways to reach children and families and strategically disciple and shepherd them.
- Familiarity with culture, current trends, issues of importance to children, and the ability to bridge gaps.
- Excellent public speaking and communication skills.
- Ability to always maintain the highest degree of discernment and confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping. Mobility to move from one office area to another within the Church campus and to off-Campus locations. Moderate lifting and carrying may be required. Ability to reach above shoulders, to extend arms, and reach. Ability to climb a ladder. Manual dexterity sufficient to type, operate general office equipment and to file. Specific visual acuities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
