Missions Minister

MISSIONS MINISTER

Position Objective: To provide leadership to the missions ministry of First Montgomery by developing missional hearts in our members for our local community, our nation, and the world.

Position Description: The Missions Director will be the leader of all missions activities.  Although the Pastor provides the overall vision and direction for all ministries in the church, including missions, the Missions Director will oversee and coordinate all the details of every event involving missions. The Missions Director must be a visionary who is creative in leading people to God.  The Missions Director is a leader who can communicate a direction in a way that inspires those around him/her to join in the pursuit of that vision. The Missions Director reports directly to the pastor.

Qualifications:

1 A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.

2 Commitment to moral purity.

3 Commitment to the mission, vision, and worship philosophy of First Montgomery.

4 Demonstrated excellence as a missions leader, i.e. has grown a missions ministry over the past few years.

Abilities:

1. Demonstrated ability to organize large projects.
2. A heart for the spiritual formation of those involved in the missions ministry.
3. Relational skills and an enthusiastic presence for leading all missions activities.
4. Skilled in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships.
5. Skilled in the use of technology for organizing missions activities and communicating with missions activity participants.
6. A self-starter
7. A team player with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, missions, and fellowship. 
2. Build the necessary teams to carry out the missions ministry goals of First Montgomery.
3. Plan the numerous and varied missions events of First Montgomery in consultation with the Pastor, and do so with prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and appropriateness.
4. Regularly serve at missions events.
5. Maintain office hours as agreed upon with the Pastor.
6. Provide spiritual care for the people who participate in our missions efforts.
7. Participate in hospital visitation as assigned.
8. Participate in church outreach programs, including encouragement and leadership of members in outreach.
9. Introduce our missions teams to training provided by other ministries, books, websites and conferences.
10. Plan and implement church partnerships, community relationships centered around missions activities, major seasonal events, local missions efforts, outreach events, and other events as assigned by the pastor.   
11. Oversee the missions ministry budget, organization, and volunteers.
12. To work closely with the pastor ensure the missions ministry supports the overall mission of the church.
13. Maintain healthy growth of the missions ministry, meeting or exceeding the growth rate agreed upon with the pastor.
14. Perform other responsibilities as determined by the pastor.
15. Promote unity within the church by exercising Biblical conflict resolution practices, fostering unity within the missions ministry, deescalating conflict, and loving & protecting First Montgomery.
16. Refrain from public criticism of other staff members.
17. Refrain from any activity that might harm First Montgomery, the staff, or the congregation.
