REPORTS TO: Lead Pastor 

WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Exec. Director of Ministries, Campus Leads, and Ministry Directors

SCOPE: The Pastoral Resident will be given the opportunity to form healthy patterns of life and ministry by doing pastoral work while being developed and coached by experienced pastors and staff members. Upon commencement of said residency, we will together discern areas of specific ministry focus. It is expected that the Pastoral Resident will work on large scale ministry and leadership projects as well as daily ministry duties. The intent is to learn, grow and exhibit skills necessary to be an effective communicator, build and lead teams, cast and execute vision, and ultimately, prepare for next steps of pastoral ministry.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The goal of this position is to prepare to be a pastor, building upon the resident’s education and ministry experience as they develop their own gifts and understanding of their unique call in vocational ministry. 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

General Leadership & Learning

  • Perform general pastoral duties and responsibilities as directed by the Lead Pastor.
  • Provide for the pastoral needs and care of the congregation.
  • Teach in various contexts in accordance with her/his gifts.
  • Assist in weekend, specific campus leadership.
  • Perform baptisms and child dedications as directed.
  • Engage in Nona staff responsibilities, including All Staff events, as we “Do What’s Best for the Family.”
  • Recruit and develop leaders and volunteers.
  • Be available to perform pre-marital counseling, weddings, and memorial services.
  • Be an active worshipper at Nona Church.

Specific Leadership & Preparation 

As a growing, multi-site church, Nona provides a broad range of ministry opportunities. Pastoral Residents may have both a primary area of focus as well as a rotational experience in areas of ministry such as Spiritual Formation, Adult Ministries, Next Generation, Worship & Production, Marriage, and Operations. These are to be determined by the Lead Pastor at the onset of the residency, based upon the specific needs and strengths of the candidate.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Vibrant personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Completed seminary degree (may consider candidates currently enrolled in an accredited seminary program)
  • In full agreement with the Nona Church Statement of Faith 
  • Proven capacity to identify, mobilize, and equip high-level volunteers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven presentation skills, and the ability to effectively teach God’s Word
  • Experience in leading high-capacity people and high-performing teams
  • High cultural IQ and values working in a nurturing a multi-cultural team
  • A passion to champion and develop women (as much as men) into leadership roles
  • Confident humility and the modeling of high respect for others and for our leaders
  • Proven attention to detail with the tenacity to get projects across the finish line
  • Collaborative team player who naturally motivates and encourages others
  • Ability to make independent decisions and work without supervision, with discernment as to what needs broader input and/or approval
  • Eager to grow in his/her leadership and spiritual development
  • Genuine love for people of all ages, abilities and demographics
  • Passionate about seeing people grow in their relationship with Jesus
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all persons regardless of relationship 
  • Able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously under time constraints  
  • Dependable, responsible, and self-motivated
  • Flexible in regard to both timing and task

Hours: This is a temporary, full-time position.
