Kids Ministry Director

Overview: The Kids Ministry Director at Calvary provides leadership to the team of staff and volunteers serving in Kids Ministry, develops relationships with children and families, and creates and executes vision in line with Calvary’s values.

Characteristics/Qualifications

• Committed and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. While this is not a pastoral position, and we are open to men and women as candidates, the Kids Ministry Director must meet the qualifications of an elder found in 1 Tim.3.
• Highly relational, hospitable, and humble. The Kids Ministry Director is a teammate who will work in coordination with other ministry departments to accomplish the mission together.
• Strong organizational skills with regard to scheduling, communication, delegation of responsibilities, and some event planning
• Ability to recruit and equip others to work together on various teams
• Active member of the church community at Calvary (upon hire)
• 5+ years of ministry leadership experience with children required. Leadership experience in children’s ministry at a church 500+ in attendance highly preferred. Theological education highly preferred.
• This teammate must strongly resonate with our mission statement: Calvary exists to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus who live out passion for Christ and compassion for people.

Skill Set/Duties

• Set vision in line with Calvary’s values and in consultation with the Lead Pastor
• Provide leadership and direction for the Kids Ministry team at Calvary. This includes Sunday mornings, mid-week programming, special needs ministry, and ministry to our Anywaa congregation.
• Review and implement curriculum for all Kids Ministry programming, ensuring sound biblical/theological content is taught
• Manage and lead the programming for kids grade 5 and below on Sundays. This includes curriculum preparation, volunteer management, safety procedures and protocols, and facility use oversight.
• Develop partnerships with parents. Parents must be acknowledged and equipped as the primary spiritual disciple-makers of their families.
• Provide adequate communication of duties, schedules, and expectations to the volunteer teams
• Work jointly with Youth Ministry leaders in a monthly meeting to plan and implement other events related to accomplishing team goals
• Participate in weekly Lead Team meetings with other department leaders to foster program excellence through communication, support, prayer, special events, and planning

Hours, Salary, and Reporting:

The Kids Ministry Director role is a full-time position (40+ hours/week).  These hours will be distributed throughout the week using the Calvary’s work hour policy. Starting salary range: $55,000-60,000 per year (possibly more for highly experienced candidates) plus full benefits. The Kids Ministry Director manages a number of direct reports from the Kids Ministry department and reports to the Lead Pastor.
