Job Title: Director of Kids Ministry
Reports To: Executive Director
Job Summary:
The Director of Kids Ministry provides leadership, vision, and pastoral care for the children and families of Compassion Church. This role oversees ministry from birth through 6th grade, equipping volunteers, building relationships with families, and creating engaging, age-appropriate experiences that help children know and follow Jesus. The right leader will be passionate about presenting God’s Word in creative ways, leading through people, and working collaboratively with the broader church team.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee dynamic large group worship experiences for kids, including hosts, teachers, worship leaders, and creative elements.
Personally teach in kids' large group services at least once per quarter.
Be visible and present in the Kids lobby during weekend services, connecting with kids and parents.
Collaborate with the Creative Team in weekly meetings to plan weekend programming.
Plan strategically, manage the Kids Ministry budget, procure materials and supplies, and secure volunteers.
Stay current on best practices in Kids Ministry and regularly refresh the weekend experience.
Lead and develop the Kids Ministry team, including the Kids Coordinator, staff, residents, and interns.
Recruit, train, oversee, and care for volunteer team leaders and volunteers, holding them accountable and encouraging spiritual growth.
Plan and execute mid- to large-scale attractional events in collaboration with the church’s Events Team.
Build relationships with local elementary schools and represent Compassion Church in the community.
Partner with the Creative Arts and Communications Team to maintain strong ministry branding, social media presence, and community awareness.
Maintain open, prompt communication with church leadership, team members, and families.
Develop relationships with children, parents, staff, and church members.
Host or lead an adult small group 2 out of 3 semesters each year.
Participate in all church-wide servant evangelism events and support other ministry leaders as needed.

A heart for the local church, a growing relationship with Jesus, and a passion for helping others follow Him.
Dynamic leader who leads through people, not just programs.
Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Highly collaborative and creative, able to think strategically and implement ideas.
Relational, approachable, and able to communicate well with children, parents, volunteers, and staff.
Comfortable managing a large team of volunteers and developing future leaders.
Seminary or Bible college graduate preferred; bachelor’s degree minimum strongly preferred.
Spiritual Maturity: A mature, growing follower of Christ.
Spiritual Gifts: Leadership, Administration, Hospitality, Teaching.
Expectations:
Maintain a “yes and can-do” spirit with wisdom to lead well and say “no” when needed.
Model Christian living and stewardship; tithing to Compassion Church is required and regularly reviewed.
Work closely with the Executive Director and align ministry plans with church vision.
Be present and prompt for all meetings, events, and church-wide initiatives.
Raise up new leaders within the ministry; leadership will be measured by the ability to multiply leaders.
Communicate promptly and clearly with leadership, staff, volunteers, and the congregation.
Defend and support the church’s vision and leadership at all times.
Be ready to report progress in all areas: volunteer engagement, budget stewardship, ministry needs, and areas for improvement.
