ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Children’s Ministry Director serves as the primary leader for the spiritual formation and discipleship of children (birth through 5th grade) at Fellowship Church. This role involves equipping volunteers, partnering with parents, and creating an engaging, gospel-centered ministry environment that aligns with the church’s vision.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

1. Vision & Leadership

  • Develop and implement a gospel-centered vision for children’s ministry that aligns with the mission of Fellowship Church.
  • Establish a discipleship pathway for children that fosters spiritual growth from early childhood through 5th grade.
  • Serve as a spiritual leader and mentor for children, volunteers, and families involved in the ministry.
  • Champion a culture of excitement where children are encouraged to know, love, and follow Jesus.

2. Ministry Development & Teaching

  • Organize and lead weekly children’s programs, including Sunday morning classes, midweek gatherings, and seasonal events.
  • Recruit, train, and shepherd a team of volunteers (students and adults) to serve in children’s ministry.
  • Oversee the selection and implementation of a comprehensive, biblically sound curriculum that supports spiritual development across all ages.
  • Provide leadership and vision for Camp Fellowship (week long summer program on campus), camps, and outreach initiatives.
  • Working alongside the pastors and staff to create intentional family discipleship opportunities, equipping parents to lead their children spiritually at home.

3. Volunteer Development & Support

  • Implement training programs to equip volunteers with best practices in teaching, child discipleship, and leadership.
  • Foster a culture of encouragement and appreciation among volunteers through team-building and recognition.
  • Ensure all volunteers comply with child safety policies and are properly screened through background checks and training.

4. Administrative & Operational Oversight

  • Supervise all children’s ministry volunteers and leaders according to the church’s organizational structure.
  • Develop and manage an annual ministry budget, ensuring resources are used effectively and responsibly.
  • Collaborate with other ministry leaders to plan the church calendar and coordinate facility use for children’s ministry events.
  • Participate in staff meetings, strategy sessions, and church-wide planning efforts.

5. Church & Family Engagement

  • Maintain regular communication with parents to equip them as primary disciplers of their children.
  • Provide spiritual counsel and guidance to families as needed.
  • Encourage multi-generational connections within the church by integrating children’s ministry with broader church initiatives.
  • Support and participate in church-wide events, worship services, and outreach efforts.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • A growing disciple of Jesus Christ, demonstrating spiritual maturity and biblical knowledge.
  • A passion for children’s ministry.
  • Experience in teaching, ministry leadership, and team-building.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to connect with children and communicate effectively with parents, volunteers, and staff.
  • Commitment to Fellowship Church’s mission, vision, and doctrinal beliefs.
  • Willingness to pursue continued learning, mentorship, and professional development in ministry.
  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred.
