Summit Point Church - Community Pastor

Position Summary: The Community Pastor is responsible for providing vision, leadership, development, and direction for any ministry staff, team leaders, and team members as it pertains to the mission, vision, values, next steps, and strategy of all environments specific to Summit Point Church.
Qualifications:
- Follower of Jesus
- Called by God (internal call)
- Licensed & Ordained (external affirmation)
- Meets the Biblical qualifications for Pastoral Leadership (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-3)
- Bachelor’s Degree (bare minimum)
- At least 5 plus years of Ministry Experience with a proven track record of success
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Embrace and implement the Statement of Faith, Mission, Vision, Values, Next Steps, Strategy, Key Distinctives, Operations, and Core Philosophy of Summit Point Church
- Servant Leader who is responsible for casting and communicating vision and inspiring participation in the area of outreach, community groups, and ministry teams
- Develop a strategy to identify, recruit, train, lead, empower, and invest in ministry leaders
- Responsible for the growth and participation of its ministries
- Shepherd, guide and lead: local outreach (create community presence, engagement and impact), global outreach (short-term mission trips), campus outreach (yearly creative events, lead kids staff team with VBS)
- Oversee key ministries (community groups, D-groups etc)
- Oversee all of our ministry teams (examples: guest services, men’s ministry, women’s ministry, facilities team etc.)
- Responsible for designing and implementing strategies to effectively reach our community, assimilate people into community groups, and equip people to do the work of the ministry
- Utilize Planning Center Online for all Sunday Morning Volunteers
- Share in the teaching responsibility as it pertains to the membership class called “Starting Point”
- Assist the Lead Pastor in overseeing/managing paid ministry staff and contract employees, daily operations, and performing pastoral duties (as needed) like: preaching, teaching, visiting, counseling, hospital care, weddings, funerals, and other various activities and ministry opportunities
The above summary of duties represents the major tasks and duties. The individual may be called to perform other related tasks under the direction of the Lead Pastor.
Job Skills and Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree desirable, which prepares an individual for full-time ministry
- Ministry Experience: at least 5 plus years of ministry experience with a proven track record of success, ability to manage and lead staff, demonstrates a passion for pastoral ministry (outreach, discipleship, building ministries)
- Effective Communications Skills: written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under short deadlines, juggle multiple priorities, recognize and respond to urgent requests, and quickly adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to build and lead ministry teams
- Strong work-ethic and team-player
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Be a continual learner - seek opportunities to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually

- Successful completion of a credit and criminal background check

Physical Requirements
Ability to function independently and ability to speak. Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs. (with or without assistance). This position also may require long periods of standing up and walking.
