Head of School – Job Description
We seek an experienced and visionary leader to serve as Head of School at Parkway Christian School. This individual must be a spiritually grounded, mission-driven leader who cultivates a Christ-centered academic environment. The ideal candidate is a devoted
Christian and seasoned administrator with exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, willing to make Bethesda Christian Church their home church. This role demands a deep commitment to biblical education, strategic vision, and team
development to ensure the school flourishes in its mission of Challenging Minds, Capturing Hearts, and Cultivating Gifts.
Reports to: Senior Pastor, Board of Trustees
Supervises: All faculty, staff, and administrative personnel
Qualifications
Education:
- Required: Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
- Preferred: Doctoral coursework or an earned doctorate in education or administration
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the broader school community
- Visionary leadership with the ability to articulate and promote the school’s mission and goals
- Excellent multitasking and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with relevant Michigan statutes, policies, and procedures, including regulations set forth by the Michigan Board of Education and Michigan Department of Education
- Strong understanding of curriculum development, instructional theory, and best practices in education
- Knowledge of management principles, leadership strategies, and educational administration
- A deep biblical foundation and commitment to integrating faith with education
Abilities:
- Strong leadership, observational, and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in school operations, with expertise in budgeting, staff development, and curriculum leadership
- Ability to effectively manage personnel and implement school-wide goals
- Competency in problem-solving and conflict resolution
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience
- Two to three years of administrative experience preferred
Job Goals

palace.” (Daniel 1:4). The Head of School is responsible for maintaining the spiritual and academic climate of the school, ensuring alignment with its mission, vision, and objectives. This role requires strong leadership to foster a culture of excellence,
faith, and community engagement.
Primary Responsibilities
Leadership in Kingdom Education
- Develop and oversee the annual Kingdom Education budget, ensuring alignment with school priorities
- Provide regular reports to the Board on the status of Kingdom Education implementation
- Facilitate staff development in philosophy and best practices for implementation
- Educate parents on Kingdom Education principles and their role in implementation
- Increase community awareness of the benefits of a Kingdom Education model
- Establish and maintain an evaluation process to assess the effectiveness of Kingdom Education initiatives
Curriculum and Instructional Oversight
- Direct the planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum in alignment with Kingdom Education principles and accreditation standards
- Oversee faculty assignments and ensure mission-aligned hiring practices
- Analyze and interpret standardized test results to inform curriculum adjustments and instructional strategies
- Evaluate instructional methodologies and set school-wide academic goals
- Recruit, mentor, and retain highly qualified Christian faculty
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for faculty
- Maintain open communication with faculty regarding classroom activities and instructional needs
School Climate and Community Engagement
- Conduct semi-annual staff vision meetings to reinforce school culture and strategic goals
- Oversee admissions and enrollment strategies in collaboration with the Admissions Director
- Establish partnerships with local businesses and organizations for student scholarships and cooperative education opportunities
Student Life and Development
- Promote the intellectual, ethical, and spiritual growth of students by instilling Christian values and cultivating godly character in alignment with the school's mission
- Develop and oversee programs that support student leadership, academic achievement, and career readiness, including experiential learning opportunities
- Foster a joyful and engaging environment that encourages students to explore their academic potential, participate in clubs, athletics, and extracurricular activities, and develop their unique gifts
- Oversee student support programs that promote academic, social, and emotional well-being
Discipline
- Promote and uphold the school's disciplinary, uniform, and academic policies
- Address disciplinary matters in a fair and consistent manner, aligning with school policies and values
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, extracurricular leaders, and athletic coaches to ensure a unified approach to discipline
- Foster a learning environment that promotes positive behavior and the formation of biblical worldview integration
- Demonstrate mercy and forgiveness, guiding truly repentant students toward character growth
Financial Management and Resource Development
- Research and develop alternative revenue sources, including grants and donor funding
- Oversee and support fundraising initiatives
- Monitor expenditures and ensure adherence to the Board-approved budget
Admissions and Enrollment
- Provide oversight and leadership to the Admissions Director
- Develop and execute strategies to enhance student enrollment and retention
- Review and approve enrollment decisions to ensure adherence to Parkway’s mission and biblical values
- Strengthen the school’s community presence through outreach and marketing efforts
