Pastor of Elementary Ministries Job Description

TITLE: Preteen Pastor
Dept/Ministry: Next Gen / Kids

Purpose: Champion and lead all aspects of Compass Kids Preteen Ministry and partner with parents to fulfill the Compass vision and mission.

NEXTGEN MINISTRY TEAM
The? NextGen Team serves as a unified ministry from birth through young adults. We support one another so we can be more effective in ministry to families at Compass Christian Church. We strongly believe in partnering with parents in order to have a greater impact on the Next Generation. We strive to celebrate milestones and provide smooth transitions from one phase to the next. While each leader has specific ministry area responsibilities, the entire team serves under the leadership and direction of the NextGen Pastor. We believe Kids Ministry and Student Ministry are stronger when they support one another, work together and partner with parents through every phase.

The Preteen Director ?primarily? ?serves as a member of the NextGen Team, collaborating around effective campus ministry and giving leadership to ministry areas described below. It is important that this team member advocate for and collaborate with both the team members they supervise as well as for the other team leaders they work alongside.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead Compass Kids ministry Grades 5-6
• Discover, develop, and deploy volunteers to lead kids to find and follow Jesus
• Create fun, age-appropriate program options for weekly services and special events
• Lead Preteen Services: Sunday Mornings
• Use creativity in groups to disciple kids
• Connect with kids and parents on Sunday Mornings
• Serve in a pastoral role to support kids and guide parents
• Support NextGen Team as needed, including but not limited to:
• Parent Events
• Milestone Events
• Volunteer Training Events
• Champion the Orange ministry strategy and customize curriculum for our environment
• Train leaders to engage the interests of preteens and affirm their identity in Jesus
• Create irresistible environments for preteens to build community and invite friends
• Understand the Preteen phase and engage kids in an age-appropriate way
• Work with Junior High Director to build a bridge between Kids and Youth ministry
• Perform other church duties as assigned

EVALUATION

• Based on success of key ministry focus areas and results
• Tracking according to Key Objectives
• Quarterly evaluation with supervisor

COMPASS KIDS MINISTRY WILL

• Engage kids in the Mission/Vision of Compass Christian Church
• Leading people to find and follow Jesus
• Multiplying disciples in relational environments
• Help make disciples of Jesus who will: Love God, Love People, and Share Jesus.

QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to a commitment to Christ-like character and a passionate call to ministry:

• Pastoral experience leading ministries in a large, multi-staff church setting
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to execute a ministry plan utilizing volunteer teams and collaborating with staff
• Exceptional people skills that seeks to love everyone and contributes to a healthy staff culture

CHARACTER

• This individual needs to be a devoted follower of Christ with an ever-deepening relationship with Him.
• As a leader of Christ’s church, this individual is expected to be of the highest moral and ethical character according to the Biblical standard.

ACCOUNTABILITY

• This person will report to the Elementary Pastor
• It is expected that this individual be committed to upholding the beliefs and values of Compass Christian Church

HOURS AND BENEFITS

• Work schedule: The hours will be that of a full-time salaried employee, with a Sunday - Thursday workweek.
