Worship Leader

General Qualifications

• The worship leader must be a believer with an authentic growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ who meets the qualifications of a deacon/deaconess in 1st Timothy 3:8-13 and consistently committed to Bible reading, study, prayer, and sanctification as a Christian in all of life. 
• The worship leader must have sound Biblical theology whose understanding of God’s Word shapes and guides his/her decisions and selection of music.
• The worship leader will uphold our church’s statement of faith and constitution. 
• If the worship leader is married or has children, they must not prioritize their ministry to the neglect of their spouse and/or children. Their marriage and family life must be in good working order.

Specific Expectations 

• The worship leader will possess strong vocal and instrumental ability and be able to effectively and spiritually lead the congregation in worship as well as fellow musicians and vocalists. The worship leader is a servant leader who must demonstrate genuine leadership skills while expressing true humility. The worship leader will not be overbearing in their leadership style as evidenced by their ability to listen to and connect with people from all walks of life. 
• The worship leader will stay aware of current worship trends and the desirability of adopting certain styles and trends. The leader must discern what is appropriate from what is inappropriate in worship songs and stylings. The leader will be sensitive to the congregation's worship preferences and not venture beyond their comfort zone. The leader will take the time to teach the congregation new songs before introducing them.
• The worship leader works in partnership with and under the authority of the DCBC Pastors/Elders. 
• The worship leader will recruit and train all instrumental, vocal, and technical (audio/visual) worship team members.
• The worship leader will participate in other aspects of congregational life, including, but not limited to, socializing before and/or after church and most special events. The worship leader is responsible for ensuring that the congregation feels connected to them.
• Commit to working an average of approximately 15 hours a week according to the work schedule provided with a few exceptional weeks where more time may be required to cover special worship/music events.

Miscellaneous

• Pay will be determined based on experience.
• This position does NOT offer any extra benefits.
• This position receives four Sundays off per year.
