THE ROLE

As a Skyline Church Youth & Young Adults Pastor (Lakeside), you will be responsible for providing spiritual leadership for our youth and young adult congregation, overseeing day-to-day ministry operations, and ensuring that ministry goals and objectives are aligned with our core values, vision, purpose and mission under the direction and leadership of the Skyline Lakeside Campus Pastor and Associate Campus Pastor, and Senior Pastor (SP) Dr. Jeremy McGarity. The role will also include contributing to pastoral care and events, both within and outside assigned ministry areas.

RESPONSIBLE FOR

1. Modeling Biblical Priorities Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of Skyline Church. The Youth & Young Adults Pastor (Lakeside) should represent a growing personal relationship with Christ. The Youth & Young Adults Pastor (Lakeside) models a strong relationship with his or her spouse (if married) and children (if applicable). The Youth & Young Adults Pastor (Lakeside) strives to fulfill his or her purpose while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships and actions. These objectives are accomplished by: • Committing to a daily quiet-time with God. • Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity. • Developing personal evangelism opportunities with your oikos outside the church. • Supporting the ministries of Skyline Church by faithfully giving at least 10% of gross income. • Adhering to and encompassing the qualities and characteristics required of Skyline Church employees, as defined by the Staff Handbook and Core Identity Book. • Lead with a servant’s heart, demonstrate genuine care and concern, while acting with humility and integrity, when encouraging the efforts of all team members (1 Peter 5:1-4).

2. Strategic Leadership and Planning Key Responsibilities • Under the guidance of the Lakeside Campus Pastor, Lakeside Associate Campus Pastor, and the HQ Youth Leadership Team, the youth pastor will execute Skyline’s vision, mission, goals and campus specific action plans in assigned ministry areas. • Assist in implementing & carrying out strategies to reach and engage new youth in your community. • Build relationships with youth leaders and local youth organizations to expand our outreach efforts. • Help create, guide, and manage a budget for your church campus ministry, operations & outreach events in conjunction with the campus pastor. • Ensuring facility usage and programs are appropriately and effectively aligned to best meet strategic goals and Skyline Church Lakeside campus. • Ensure the safety and security of the campus facility and its youth attendees. • Assisting other pastoral/administrative duties, as needed, to ensure ministry at the campus run smoothly. 

3. Oversight of Youth and Young Adult Worship, Small Groups, and Experiences • Responsible for ensuring that all worship experiences, meetings, small groups, and events in youth and young adults are executed with excellence and efficiency. • Lead the production of said worship experiences, meetings, small groups, and events, and provide pastoral care and support to youth and young adults. • Monitor and report on the pulse of youth and young adults through research and evaluation of attendance, participation, baptisms, volunteer engagement, community transformation, etc. • Plan and execute worship and other creative elements to complement the teaching in each youth and young adult ministry environment. • Teach and lead youth and young adults. Facilitate small group gatherings and oversee the development of new events and opportunities.

4. Volunteer Supervision and Development • Recruit and train volunteers for various roles in our youth ministries. • Provides leadership to the volunteer team. The youth pastor will lead, evaluate and mentor existing volunteers in their respective areas of youth ministry and prioritize future needs. Includes the following responsibilities: • Supervising the youth ministry volunteer team as it relates to day-to-day ministry and operational activities. • Training and development of student leadership teams and alongside adult leaders. • Empowering volunteer leaders to lead in youth ministries. QUALIFICATIONS • A BA degree in Bible preferred, youth ministry, pastoral ministry, or a related field. • A minimum of 1 year of experience in ministry leadership. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • A passion for reaching youth and young adults, evangelism/outreach, and discipleship. • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams of volunteers. • Ability to work collaboratively with Skyline Lakeside’s leadership team. • A commitment to our core values and mission.
