Job Description:

Dripping Springs is one of the fastest growing areas in the country, with hundreds of young families flocking here for the Hill Country scenery and amazing school district.  Our church called new Lead Pastor Russell Dixon in June of 2021 and in the last 3.5 years we have tripled in attendance and our attendance is currently around 18% up from last year. We also have hired a new Kids Minister and new Worship Pastor, a new Business Administrator all of which joined an incredible team of office staff that have been a part of the church for a long time. If God is calling you to serve as our next Youth Pastor, you would be poised to join a wonderful existing team in an area that is prime for great Kingdom work!

The Youth Pastor position is full-time with full responsibility to envision, plan, coordinate, and lead all aspects of the Youth Ministries of Canyon Church. It is expected that the Youth Pastor will coordinate youth activities with overall church ministries, activities, and direction.

The Youth Pastor has the primary responsibility to facilitate the ongoing programs of Canyon Church, which have the goal of providing a nurturing environment in which youth will experience God's love. The goal of these programs is to supplement and complement the parent's role in the spiritual development of their youth which will ultimately lead all youth to an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Youth Pastor will be accountable to the Canyon Church congregation, who will support and encourage them in the fulfillment of their duties. The Youth Pastor will serve under the direct supervision of the Lead Pastor. The Youth Pastor will be advised by and work closely with the Lead Pastor and the ministry will be supported by youth volunteers, deacons, and other staff members as needed.

Specific Responsibilities
 
Planning and Implementing
·     Implement engaging curriculum and programs for youth from 6th grade through high school on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
·     Organize, plan, and recruit volunteers for youth activities, such as summer camps, mission trips, 5th Quarter, D-Now, and others.
·     Be a leader/greeter during Sunday morning Connect Class, Wednesday activities, and other youth gatherings promoted by the church, welcoming youth and others, answering questions, and directing them to the proper location.
·     Teach/Lead meaningful and impactful messages or discussion groups. When not leading the presentation or discussion, rotate attendance among the various volunteer led discussions.
·     In coordination with the Lead Pastor, recruit, select and oversee Connect Class volunteer teachers, assistants, and substitutes, making sure all classes have an appropriate amount of leadership for respective group size.
·     Provide constructive feedback to volunteer leaders, including helpful teaching materials, and practical counsel for how to be more effective with the discussions and interactions with youth.

Ministry Coordination
·     Coordinate youth ministry events such as summer mission trips and camps.
·     Develop communication plans to keep staff, volunteers and parents informed.
·     Work with the Pastor, staff, and youth volunteers to help coordinate, manage, and implement youth ministry programs and activities. These activities should fit within the vision of the overall church at large and should work towards building Sundays first (worship and Connect classes), then other programs follow.
·     Be flexible with work schedule to meet the needs of the church and church events in the areas that involve youth.
·     Support all pastors, ministers, and directors in their responsibilities in leadership.
·     Support and facilitate lay leadership in their responsibilities.

Administration
·     Inventory and maintain, supplies and equipment including purchasing, delivering, and setting up on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
·     Keep and report to the church Administrator weekly attendance of students and volunteers.
·     Maintain up to date information and database on youth and their families.
·     Plan and conduct volunteer training, and for all volunteers, ensure a background check and the required Ministry Safe video training are completed prior to them working directly with youth.
·     Prepare for and participate in weekly and monthly staff meetings.
·     Prepare annual ministry budget and submit it to the Finance Committee as requested.
·     Ensure that the youth ministry operates within the funding allocated in the annual budget adopted by the church.

Spiritual Leadership
·     Disciple students and meet with them regularly in small groups and one-on-one.
·     Model the love of Christ in word and deed in your work, including practices of forgiveness and encouragement.
·     Pray regularly and systematically for the youth and families touched by our ministries.
·     Allocate time every week to evangelistically engage youth and their parents through ministry activities, as well as outside the church building, with time targeted to be present at community student events.

Other Duties as Assigned
·     Be willing to help with other church-wide service projects and church-wide outreach and pastoral care initiatives.
·     Be a builder, someone who is proactively looking for ways to grow the church at large and grow student ministry. This can be accomplished by effectively guiding students and parents in deepening their faith, strengthening them to enter into mission within the community. 
·     Be a team player- our church staff helps each other with many things and it is expected that this person will be willing to serve and help with other duties around the church as needed.
·     Depending on gifts and desires, preaching in the main church service could be an opportunity provided periodically. This would be determined and measured by the Lead Pastor.
