Job Title: Youth Minister
Reports to: Senior Minister
Position Type: Full-Time
Objectives – Youth Grade 6 - 12
The youth minister will design, coordinate, and lead a comprehensive student ministry program to build young disciples for Christ. This ministry should create a nurturing environment for spiritual growth, equip students for a lifelong relationship with Christ, and inspire them to actively engage in the church community. Key focus areas include group building, worship, discipleship, missions, and outreach.
This role is integral to the church’s mission of fostering a Christ-centered community. The youth minister will model an authentic Christian life and provide mentorship to youth, families, and volunteers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in youth ministry, theology, education, or a related field preferred.
Strong biblical knowledge and sound theology rooted in the Restoration Movement.
Demonstrated experience in youth ministry, education, or a similar role.
Effective communication skills for engaging with students, parents, staff, and the congregation.
Proficiency in using social media, modern communication platforms, and A/V tools for ministry promotion.
Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers.
Must be an immersed believer in good standing, actively pursuing a relationship with Christ.
Supports and adheres to UCC’s mission, vision, and statement of faith.
Character
Strong people skills with the ability to relate to a diverse group of youth and their families.
Capable of handling sensitive situations with grace and biblical wisdom.
Exemplifies humility, teachability, and a willingness to grow spiritually and professionally.
Lives a life that reflects Christian values and integrity both inside and outside the church.
Committed to fostering a culture of discipleship.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development: Create dynamic and engaging programs for middle and high school students, emphasizing spiritual growth, biblical literacy, and leadership development.
Youth Engagement: Foster a welcoming environment that encourages youth to actively participate in church life. Build relationships with students through regular interaction, school visits, and attending extracurricular activities.
Parent Partnership: Provide resources and encouragement for parents to disciple their children at home. Maintain open communication to address their concerns and expectations.
Volunteer Leadership: Recruit, train, and empower a team of dedicated volunteers. Cultivate a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility within the ministry.
Community Outreach: Establish partnerships with local schools and community organizations to extend the church’s influence and connect with unchurched youth.
Pastoral Duties: Assist the Senior Minister with preaching, teaching, and pastoral care, including hospital visits, weddings, and funerals.
Event Planning: Organize annual and seasonal events, retreats, mission trips, and service projects that foster fellowship and spiritual growth.
Promotion & Communication: Use modern tools (social media, email, and church website) to promote ministry events, share testimonies, and keep members informed.
Administrative Management: Maintain an organized ministry calendar, manage the youth ministry budget, create an environment of safety and security for the youth and ensure alignment with the church’s mission and vision.
Expectations
Regular office hours Monday – Friday (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM). Expectation is that those hours will change to reflect evening events and other activities as we understand the need for flexibility to meet the needs of the youth and families.
Actively participate in church services, staff meetings, and church-wide activities.
Model and encourage a lifestyle of prayer, Bible study, and Christ-centered living.
Engage in continuous learning by attending conferences, seminars, and training to stay updated on best practices in youth ministry.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual Salary: Up to $45,000.
Health Stipend: $5,000 annually.
Vacation: 10 days, including up to two Sundays off annually.
Personal Days: 5 days.
Opportunities for professional development and growth within the church community.
The senior minister and elders will provide a semi-annual evaluation.
