Youth & Worship Director
Principle function: The Youth & Worship Leader is called to help cast a compelling vision for First Baptist Church as God’s people living on mission to see lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Specifically, they are responsible for encouraging students and their families to live as an active part of the church body and for equipping them to labor as an integral part of the church’s mission. Tasked with planning, preparing for, and leading a weekly worship service that connects with all generations, promotes authentic worship, and proclaims the uncompromised message of the Gospel.
Encourage youth to be involved in the regular life of First Baptist Church.
Plan & coordinate opportunities for youth to develop friendships through social interaction and group recreation.
Plan fellowship and worship activities that cultivate nurturing relationships among the youth and provide them with opportunities to interact with unchurched family and friends.
Participate in the life of the church – regular worship meetings & other scheduled events.
Identify, enlist, and equip youth leaders & volunteers who will build intentional gospel relationships with students and their families.
Serve as a resource for encouraging & equipping of parents to be the lead discipler of their students.
Work with other staff and leadership of First Baptist Church to develop a structured plan of outreach and visitation that includes reaching the families of the community.
Provide activities as an outlet for personal and spiritual growth and as a Christ-centered plan for reaching other youth.
Lead the youth in ministry & missions projects which contribute to the overall mission of the church.
Exemplify and encourage evangelistic outreach.
Organize and lead Worship on Sunday mornings
Lead and help develop a Youth praise team for Wednesday evenings
Coordinate music with scripture with Senior Pastor or Media Coordinator
Lead the congregation in worship and direct the flow and elements of the service
Develop a weekly order of service in coordination with the Senior Pastor and communicate it in advance to the members of the band and tech team.
Direct a weekly rehearsal with the worship band that both prepares for a quality performance on Sunday and develops new music to be introduced to the congregation in future services. The worship leader ultimately chooses the music, but it is important that he/she seeks input from the band members and pastors on song choices.
Ensure that the stage set-ups, lighting, sound system, video systems, and worship presentation software are working properly and ready for the service
Recruit and/or develop new musicians, singers, and tech team members sufficient to carry out the weekly needs of the service and prepare for future needs
Develop a yearly budget for the modern service and follow the financial guidelines for purchases
Engage in the body of the church as an active member by joining a Bible study group, seeking to make connections with members beyond the worship stage, and supporting the vision, mission and pastors of the church
Maintaining a regular work schedule of at least 40 hours a week, both in the office and other ministry-related activities.
Participate in weekly staff meetings to set goals and measure status.
Coordinating the planning and administration of the budget for youth & worship ministries to include space, equipment, and supplies for activities as required.
Lead the Youth Committee and oversee its activities to support and broaden the effectiveness of the youth ministry.
Serve as a resource to First Baptist Church and community for youth & worship ministry.
This position will report directly to the Associate Pastor, but will work closely with Senior Pastor.
