POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Full or Part-time Pastor of The Barn

APPROVED BY: Elder Board

POSITION REPORTS TO: The Elder Board

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Administrative Assistant; Volunteer Coordinator

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Pastor shall join the Elder Board as a servant leader within the Barn Church’s congregation in order to advance the mission of the Barn leadership - seeking to grow a community of disciples with lives built on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ and His saving power, as we all choose to participate in the Kingdom of God by loving Him wholeheartedly, loving one another authentically, and studying the Bible expectantly.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Taking an active role in shaping and advancing the vision of the Barn leadership alongside the Elder Board, including regular meetings with the Elder Board

Teaching - in charge of weekly sermons or organizing schedule for other teachers

Shepherding: ensure that members are supported and offered Biblical guidance
Communication: calls, texts, coffee/meal meetings
Counseling: individual, family, marriage, etc. - and/or referring people to appropriate professional counselling services
Prayer: visits and/or phone

Active oversight of Barn ministries - may include but not be limited to the following:
Small groups
Children and youth
Worship
Benevolence
Community involvement

Responsible for organizing funerals, baptisms, dedications, and weddings for congregants

Move the church towards unity in Christ, both specifically at the Barn, and with the Barn as part of the local and global Church

Regularly spends time in prayer and Scripture, seeking God’s direction in shepherding the church body

QUALIFICATIONS:

An active belief in God the Holy Trinity

Personable, relating well to others with empathy and care

Ability to communicate with leadership, peers, and all members of the body of Christ

Able to lead volunteers

Education or training in relevant fields, or at a minimum a continuing desire to learn and grow
