Director of Family Ministries

Rose Hill Methodist Church, a growing, dynamic church with a heritage in Methodist ministry of over 150 years, is looking for a Director of Family Ministries to lead and guide us into our next chapter of providing leadership to our children, youth, and their families. Located in one of the fastest growing parts of Harris County, just northwest of Houston, RHMC is poised to welcome in children and youth of all ages, giving them the foundational building blocks of healthy Christian discipleship that can sustain them as they grow.

We are in search of a ministry leader who can help us design and lead a grade- level appropriate program of bible-based learning and activities that can interest, excite, and guide our children and their families from pre-K through graduation, and beyond. Starting at part-time, the vision for this position is that it will grow as our program grows. Starting with us now enables a leader with energy and vision to partner with us to build a program that can meet the needs and opportunities of our swiftly growing area.

Located just to the west of Tomball, Texas, the Rose Hill area is quickly transitioning from its agrocentric roots into a bustling expansion of the Greater Houston area. The challenge for our church is to retain the spiritual depth and family dynamic of our heritage while being welcoming and relatable to the incredible number of new families moving to our neighborhoods. Rose Hill Methodist Church is far enough away from urban life to be country in its feel, while still being only a short drive away from everything a major city like Houston has to offer.

Job Description

• Work with the Pastor and other church leaders to design and implement a Family Ministries program that provides age-appropriate teaching and exciting activities in discipleship that leads and nurtures every child from one grade level to the next (K-12).
• Help develop a strategic vision of the church for ministry to children and youth and their families, as well as involving parents and volunteers.
• Develop new and creative ways to include children, youth, and their families in the spiritual life of the church in the various worship services and opportunities.
• Work with existing groups, such as Methodist Women and Methodist Men, Trustees, and others to ensure that Family Ministries provides multi-generational opportunities to partner with these groups in shared ministry.
• Work closely with the Finance Committee to develop and manage the ministry budget, adhering to all church financial policies.
• Oversee and manage volunteer credentials for Family Ministries, including maintaining all records of background checks and training certifications, maintaining strict confidentiality and records security.
• Lead weekly Sunday afternoon programs (Connect 345, Youth Group). Recruit volunteer leadership for all existing weekly Sunday morning programs (Sunday School, Children’s Church). Recruit and lead volunteers for seasonal programs (Live Nativity, Fall Festival, Trunk or Treat, Summer Camp, VBS, Tomball parades, etc.), as well as developing new opportunities when identified.

Education and Experience

• A minimum of a High School diploma is required. A college degree or ministry specific training and/or certification in the area of family ministries is desired.
• Prior experience in church ministry in the area of children and/or youth is required. The successful candidate for this position will have documented experience and success leading in areas outlined in the job description.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check, including criminal background and driving record.
