WORSHIP LEAD
REPORTS TO: Worship & Service Programming Director (WSPD)
WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Experience Director, Campus Lead, Technical Team, and Worship Teams
SCOPE: The Worship Lead supports the WSPD with oversight of the service experience of any and all who set foot in our auditorium. This includes all aspects of musical worship & collaboration with production teams. This person would also be a front-facing leader on platform, and in leadership driving vision for NONAMUSIC in worship leading, arranging, and songwriting. Shepherding and stewarding the moments in and out of the weekend gatherings.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: This role exists to serve NONACHURCH by providing opportunities for people to take their next best step in following Jesus in our biggest “front porch” environment, Sunday morning worship. This position emphasizes intimacy with God through musical worship and shepherding support by creating environments that anyone can engage in and enjoy inviting their friends to.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Recruiting
- Actively engage in new relationships in order to build a volunteer team in every musical position.
- Communicate and champion NONACHURCH’s mission and values, focusing on building purpose beyond instrumentation.
- Audition new musicians & vocalists with the help of the WSPD and protect a culture of musical excellence.
- Recruit and develop relationships with professional musicians, schedule, and communicate payment arrangements with accounting.
Caring
- Maintain and initiate regular connections with volunteers, helping them feel known, discipled, and valued.
- Celebrate volunteers and their unique contribution(s) to the team.
- Cultivate a solid relationship with the WSPD, AVL Systems Lead, Campus Production Coordinator.
- Shepherd and care for team through life events.
- Be a presence in the lobby at your location engaging people of the church.
Equip
- Lead pre-service huddles and communicate best practices and vision.
- Actively engages in leading & mentoring worship apprentices & interns.
- Train volunteers with skills necessary to be successful on Sunday mornings.
- Release leaders to lead at high levels to increase capacity of the team.
- Cultivate a culture of embodied worship of gratitude, love, and affection to the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
- Spearhead songwriting & collaborative music sessions.
- Resource team with appropriate rehearsal & live multitrack resources.
- Give feedback to team, encouraging team growth, and individual growth.
- Make sure that all team members have adequate equipment to be part of the team.
- Communicate to team members weekly on the rundown of the weekend.
- Build out songs & arrangements in ProPresenter each week & share with locations.
Scheduling
- Plan Worship Sets
- Manage Planning Center for the Worship Gatherings
- Schedule teams at your location and monitor other locations to ensure full weekend teams.
- Be the musical arranger and resource manager.
- Manage and train volunteers and 1099 contract musicians in using Planning Center Online.
Engaging
- Keep pulse on new & old worship songs, and hymns to reflect our multicultural and multi-generational values.
- Find what is working & not.
- Be an attentive part of services, taking notes, and giving weekly feedback.
- Network with musicians, worship leaders, and other local leaders.
- Create engaging environments for Worship teams to grow in their faith.
- Encourage teams to be part of services ("Serve 1, Sit 1”).
- Give regular feedback to volunteers & contractors to encourage growth (instrumentally, vocally and spiritually).
- Be available for various events and ministries that need musical worship.
- Assist in leading & resourcing for special events.
Learning
- Build a consistent, ongoing knowledge base of the systems used for church services as a support to the WSPD, AVL Systems Lead, Tech Director.
- Grow in solid knowledge of sound console, DAWs, Multitracks Playback, MIDI, lighting, Ableton live.
- Consistently seek out relevant knowledge and growth by reading books, listening to podcasts, and meeting with other worship leaders.
