Job Overview:

Life Change Church is seeking a skilled and passionate Worship Pastor to oversee their worship, creative, and technical arts ministries. The Worship Pastor is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of worship in the church, including worship services, rehearsals, and other ministry events. They will ensure that all worship experiences are meaningful, Christ-centered, and spiritually enriching. The Worship Pastor will work collaboratively with the pastoral and ministry teams to create a worship environment that aligns with the church's vision and mission.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Worship Leadership: Lead the congregation in worship during weekend services, special events, and other gatherings. Ensure a vibrant, expressive, authentic, and spiritually uplifting worship experience. Prefer to have this position to also provide worship leading and leadership to our student ministry worship team.
  • Music and Song Selection: Choose and arrange music that aligns with the themes of services, seasons of the church calendar, and the overall message. Incorporate both traditional hymns (or modern rendition of hymns) and contemporary worship music as appropriate.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and develop worship team members (vocalists, musicians, and volunteers). Foster a sense of unity and spiritual growth within the worship team.
  • Service Planning: Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and other ministry leaders to plan the worship segments of services, ensuring that the music supports the teaching and overall flow of the service.
  • Rehearsals: Organize and lead weekly rehearsals, ensuring that team members are well-prepared and that the music ministry is functioning smoothly.
  • Spiritual Shepherding: Provide spiritual guidance and mentorship to the worship team, helping them grow both in their faith and in their musical abilities. Lead by example in modeling a Christ-centered life.
  • Worship Events: Plan and lead worship for special events, conferences, retreats, and other church activities as needed.
  • Sound and Media Oversight: Work closely with the technical and media volunteer teams to ensure the sound, lighting, and visual elements of worship services enhance the worship experience.
  • Creative Collaboration: Contribute to the creative development of worship services, working alongside other ministry leaders to integrate worship with teaching, prayer, and ministry opportunities.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral care to the worship team and congregation when needed, supporting their spiritual and emotional well-being.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain worship schedules, track team members' participation, and manage necessary resources (music, equipment, etc.).

 

Qualifications:

  • Spiritual Maturity: A strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, with a heart for leading others in worship.
  • Experience: Proven experience in leading worship services, preferably in a church setting. Experience with both contemporary and traditional worship styles is a plus.
  • Musical Proficiency: Skilled in playing an instrument (guitar, keyboard, etc.), singing, and leading a worship band. A good understanding of music theory is beneficial along with the ability to provide musical direction to volunteer musicians in playing their parts in the band. (Example: The ability to direct a drummer to play a section of a worship song with the correct beat or utilizing the drum kit to produce a preferred sound or build in the music.)
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and equip others. Experience in leading and developing worship teams is preferred.
  • Team-Oriented: Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and the congregation. Must be able to create a positive and encouraging team culture.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to clearly communicate with the congregation and worship team.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to plan and organize rehearsals, worship services, and events efficiently.
  • Theological Understanding: A solid understanding of Scripture and a passion for integrating biblical teachings into worship.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal music education or theological training (such as a degree in Worship Ministry, Music, or Theology) is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with sound and media technology, including live sound mixing, video.
  • production, and church management software. (ProPresenter, Light Key, YouTube, Spotify, and Planning Center (including Song Select and Music Stand)

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and perform during long worship services or events.
  • Ability to lift and move music equipment as needed.
