Job Description:

The Director of Communications will oversee and manage all internal and external communications for our church, ensuring cohesive messaging and effective communication strategies across various platforms. This role requires a visionary leader who can align communication efforts with the church's mission while supporting various ministries and initiatives.

  • Digital and Technical Proficiency:
    1. Competence in managing websites, email marketing platforms, and social media channels.
    2. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), email marketing tools, and basic HTML/CSS is a plus.
  • Project Management:
    1. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
    2. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, especially in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creativity and Innovation:
    1. Ability to develop innovative communication strategies and content that engage and inspire the church community.
    2. A keen eye for design and aesthetics, with the ability to collaborate effectively with creative teams.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility:
    1. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, remaining calm and effective under pressure.
    2. Openness to feedback and a willingness to pivot strategies as needed.

What you will be doing:

  • Website Management:
    1. Oversee the maintenance and updating of the church website.
    2. Ensure content is current, accurate, and aligns with the church’s mission and events.
  • Email Communication:
    1. Develop and manage email campaigns for newsletters, announcements, and special events.
    2. Ensure timely and effective communication with the congregation and stakeholders.
  • Staff Communication:
    1. Facilitate clear and consistent communication among staff members.
    2. Implement internal communication strategies to support team collaboration and efficiency.
  • Ministry Support:
    1. Provide communication support to various ministry teams.
    2. Develop materials and strategies to enhance ministry outreach and engagement.
  • Church News & Calendar:
    1. Produce and distribute the Church News, highlighting key events, stories, and updates.
    2. Maintain and update the church calendar, ensuring all events are accurately reflected and promoted.
  • Copywriting & Content Creation:
    1. Create compelling copy for sermons, promotional materials, social media, and other communication channels.
    2. Collaborate with creative team members to produce high-quality visual and multimedia content.
  • Strategic Communication Planning:
    1. Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with the church’s goals.
    2. Cast a vision for the communication department, driving initiatives that support and enhance the church’s mission.
  • Collaboration:
    1. Work closely with designers, photographers, and videographers to produce cohesive and engaging content.
    2. Foster a collaborative environment within the Creative Arts team and across other departments

Our Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience within/around a large church environment
  • Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church, or willing to become one
