Youth Director

Faith Community Church is looking for a part-time Youth Director. FCC is a non-denominational church in Lynden, WA, which aims to glorify God by being a fellowship of disciples who make and mature more disciples.

 

Position Summary

The Youth Director coordinates the FCC Youth Group, consisting of approx. 25 middle school and 30 high school youth. This involves directing the weekly Wednesday evening gathering and the Sunday Youth Equipping Hour, as well as developing and training youth group leaders. The Youth Director is the main point of contact between the church leadership and the youth and their families, and has a passion for leading youth to Christ, and helping them mature into genuine followers of Jesus.

 

Student Ministry Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the FCC Youth Group gatherings and facilitate Youth Ministry programs
  • Coordinate and develop leadership to help with youth
  • Offer Bible studies throughout the school year and summer. This could occur through Sunday school or other nights as led
  • Coordinate worship time for the youth program. This includes worship team selection and sound and slide presentation volunteers
  • Offer various youth activities outside of the regularly scheduled Wednesday evening program. Examples: paintball, bowling, lock-in or overnight events, mini-golf, etc.
  • Offer various missions trips as God leads. Utilizing the missionaries FCC supports would be great
  • Increase visibility and build relationships with students off the FCC campus by visiting schools, taking students for ice cream/coffee/lunch, attending sporting events, etc…
  • Available to families and students for general support and during crisis situations
  • Schedule annual parent information night
  • Attend conferences (like Youth Specialty or others) periodically to enhance effectiveness of ministry
  • Work with pastoral staff to offer events sponsored by the youth for church wide activities
  • Develop and assist the junior high leadership team
  • Communicate regularly to parents and students youth ministry information using email, newsletter, etc…

 

General Ministry Responsibilities

  • Meet regularly with all Pastoral staff
  • Participate in staff meetings
  • Be willing to attend elder meetings
  • Submit monthly written report to Elder Board and present at deacon meeting when requested
  • Assist other staff members in their area of ministry when need arises
  • Regularly attend and participate in worship gatherings, special events, retreats, etc
  • Be willing to preach and teach at worship services and other events according to need and availability

 

Qualifications

  • Degree from Seminary or Bible College or proven youth ministry experience.
  • Experience ministering, discipling and/or teaching in a growing church is preferred.
  • Experience working as part of a ministry team.
  • Proven ability to work with limited supervision.
  • A personal walk evidenced by growth in modeling Jesus.
  • Teachable, with a desire to grow in your faith and abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player with effective relational skills (works well with others).

 

Supervision and growth

  • The Youth Director will report directly to the Associate Pastor of Discipleship, or in the absence of that role, the Senior Pastor.
  • The Youth Director is accountable to the FCC Elder Board.
  • It is recognized that the Youth Director role may grow over time into a full time pastoral position.

 

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $25,000 - $35,000
  • Job Type: part-time, 20 hr per week
  • Employee Workplace: On-site
  • PTO (vacation and sick leave) according to FCC Policy
  • 3% Matching 403(b) retirement contribution according to FCC Policy
  • Access to an expense account for ministry purposes
