Overview:
Our mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by creating environments where life change can take place. Our vision is to be a church that the 96,000+ unchurched and de-churched people in our community love to be a part of.
Altogether, Topeka is home to 16 high schools and middle schools with more than 10,000 students from diverse socio-economic and religious backgrounds. The Student Ministries Pastor’s main responsibility will be to serve as the champion for discipleship for those in the 7th-12th grades. Currently, our student ministry consists of 40 students from various schools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take care of your own relationship with Jesus first. You cannot lead where you have not been.
- Jesus must be the center of your life and the way you live your life is evidence of that centeredness.
- Demonstrate genuine care and empathy toward those whom you pastor.
- Ability to engage the hearts of students and disciple them.
- Collaborate with KidsPoint team to ensure a great transition from kids ministry to student ministry.
- Utilizes spiritual gifts, skills, and experiences to provide quality leadership to existing programs, mentoring students, and pastoring families.
- Build relationships with students, key volunteers, and families.
- Empower students to serve and lead as they grow and mature.
- Contribute your ideas and experience to the Family Ministry team, helping improve all areas of Family Ministry.
- Communicate clearly and timely with staff, parents, volunteers, and students.
- Plan and execute formative events (service, projects, gatherings, outings, retreats, etc.) that facilitate spiritual growth and encourage community among students.
- Recruit, train, and disciple adult leaders who will lead students into a growing relationship with Jesus.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the student ministry, set goals, and make adjustments to reach your ministry goals.
Other Duties:
- Plan and host annual fundraiser to raise support for summer camp.
- Serve on the Sunday teaching team when requested.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, retreats, etc.
- Collaborate with the district youth team to plan and execute summer camp.
- Coordinate with district to attend TWC student conference.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven track record of enthusiastically communicating the gospel that is practical and relevant to those who hear it.
- Proven track record of sharing the gospel that engages students’ hearts in a what that connects with them.
- Proven track record of building a team and sustaining a healthy student ministry.
- Proven track record of leading weekly student worship gatherings.
- Proven track record of recruiting, empowering, and retaining volunteer leaders.
- Proven track record of incredible communication with parents.
- Ability to work alongside local schools and community organizations so we can serve families in our community.
- Is a team player who can stay organized.
- Proven track record of partnering with parents to disciple their kids.
- A passion for evangelism and reaching the unchurched.
Skills and Experience Preferred:
- Licensed or ordained in The Wesleyan Church.
- Five or more years of experience leading in a similar role.
- Ability to learn systems as necessary, such as: Planning Center, Adobe products, and ProPresenter.
Salary Range:
A wage posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage for a job offer. Grace Point Church’s pay philosophy is based on internal and external data for pay equity, along with budgetary considerations for effective stewardship. The salary (along with associated benefits) for this position is expected to be in the range of $40-50,000 per year.
