Job Description: Kids Ministry Assistant Director

 

Position type: FT, salaried, 40 hours per week 

Reports to:  Alexander Baxter (Kids Ministry Director)

Manages: None

 

Summary:

Works closely with the Kids Ministry Director to oversee and manage discipleship programs for children from birth through 6th grade, focusing particularly on elementary-aged children. Collaborates with the director to fulfill the mission of partnering with families to disciple the next generation. Develops and maintains the infrastructure that promotes relational connections with both children and their families.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

Volunteers

  • Organizes and oversees all volunteers for Sunday morning elementary classes. 
  • Maintains a volunteer schedule that ensures adequate and safe coverage for elementary classes.
  • Collaborates with the Director to manage volunteers for special events throughout the year.
  • Works alongside the Director to create and sustain volunteer training and appreciation programs.

Discipleship

  • Support and train volunteers to effectively disciple children.
  • Works with volunteers to create Sunday morning discipleship programming.
  • Regularly engaging with children and their families by offering support through conversation, prayer, and resources.
  • Collaborates with the Director to plan and execute events that foster relational and discipleship opportunities.

Administrative:

  • Creates lesson plans for pre-K and elementary classes, adapting existing lessons to fit our Sunday programming.
  • Prepares each Sunday’s lesson materials and supplies for the elementary classroom teachers.
  • Attends weekly team meetings and monthly staff meetings. 
  • Manages Planning Center calendar and Breeze forms for events. 

Check-in:

  • Maintains check-in area, keeping it clean and stocked. 
  • Schedules and oversees weekly check-in station volunteers. 
  • Maintains a safe, family-friendly environment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Spiritual

  • A growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus, regularly engaging in spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Bible study, and worship. 
  • Evidence of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
  • A life that is above reproach. 
  • A passion for discipling children, a servant’s heart, and a genuine love for families.

Organizational 

  • Aligned with the beliefs, mission, and values of Park Chapel. 
  • Proficient in organization, administration, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people. 
  • Must pass the church’s background check.
  • A proven ability to lead, disciple, and engage children and families.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience serving on a church staff in a Kids’ Ministry role.
