Job Summary
The Associate Student Ministries Director will oversee and lead our Middle School ministry under the direction of our Student Pastor. This individual will have a heart for discipling young students, a heart for creating environments where both fun and discipleship can take place, and a heart for developing volunteers to be the best ministers they can be. The Associate Student Ministries Pastor will work closely with the Student Pastor and the rest of the church leadership to create engaging, biblically grounded programming for Middle School students, helping them develop a deep relationship with God while building meaningful relationships with one another.
Key Responsibilities
Communications Strategy and Planning
- Identify, invite, train, and empower adults who have a heart for Jesus and a heart for students
- Be a part of the middle school Upstream teaching team
- Invest in the lives of students, building relationships with them in the most effective way possible and modeling that for other adults
- Systematically resource and equip parents to disciple their students
- Lead Middle School Upstream services with the assistance of interns, adult volunteers, and student volunteers
- Oversee and lead Upstre(AM) Sunday morning middle school ministry
- Act as the primary organizer of middle school student small groups, casting vision and providing training to all leaders
- Meet with key volunteers on a regular basis to evaluate the student ministry as a whole
- Schedule creative meetings with students to know how they think the student ministry could improve
- Oversee Wednesday night set up team
- Think, dream, pray, and brainstorm about the most effective ways to reach lost students and disciple found students. This includes large groups, small groups, service opportunities, and events.
- Help plan and lead any/all student activities and events.
- Participate in staff meetings, creative meetings, and leadership retreats to provide evaluation and feedback
- Communicate with the Student Pastor and offer ideas to improve the ministry
- Attend, lead as directed and support the summer and weekend camp programs, student retreats, etc. as established by the Student Ministry program.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A bachelor's degree in ministry, theology, education, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in youth ministry, preferably with a focus on Middle School students.
- Proven ability to lead, disciple, and mentor students and adults.
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and management.
- Experience in planning and executing youth events, retreats, and camps.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and volunteers.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A passion for Middle School-aged students and their spiritual development.
- Background check required.

- Strong understanding of the developmental stages of Middle School students.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with integrity.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting or carrying of event materials, equipment or promotional items.
