Position Overview

The Discipleship Pastor is a strategic leader responsible for raising the spiritual temperature of our discipleship. This is measured by moving individuals from connection in groups or classes into deeper levels of discipleship, including vocational ministry, marketplace ministry, or leadership development. This role complements the Connections Pastor by focusing on equipping people for ministry and leadership beyond initial church engagement.

Key objectives include building pathways for discipleship growth, equipping small group leaders, and fostering ministry opportunities within the church and marketplace. As a member of the Ministry Leadership Team (MLT), this role collaborates closely with other leaders to fulfill the church’s spiritual formation and community impact mission.

This position requires 7+ years of significant marketplace experience, strong relational skills, and connections in the marketplace. The Discipleship Pastor will also develop small groups and prayer groups tailored to business professionals within and outside Frontline Church.

The role requires high relational engagement and the ability to inspire others. Additionally, one or two evenings per week may be necessary to accommodate groups, events, or mentorship opportunities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  1. Percentage of individuals transitioned from small groups or classes into leadership roles, vocational ministry, or marketplace ministry.
  2. Growth in the number of small group and marketplace leaders equipped and deployed.
  3. Development and engagement of small groups and prayer groups for business professionals.

Professional Qualifications

  • 7+ years of significant marketplace experience.
  • High relational skills with the ability to build meaningful connections in the marketplace and church community.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to inspire and develop leaders.
  • Proven leadership ability and experience in setting and achieving measurable goals.
  • Skilled in equipping individuals for ministry, leadership, and vocational impact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and implement pathways to move individuals from groups or classes into vocational ministry, marketplace ministry, or small group leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Connections Pastor to ensure a seamless discipleship process from first engagement to leadership development.
  • Develop and oversee small groups and prayer groups targeted toward business professionals, including those not currently connected to Frontline Church.
  • Establish strong relationships within the marketplace to build ministry opportunities and community connections.
  • Equip and train small group leaders to foster spiritual growth and multiplication of groups.
  • Track and report progress on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to leadership development and ministry engagement.
  • Participate in the Ministry Leadership Team (MLT) and contribute to strategic church initiatives.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to individuals exploring vocational or marketplace ministry.
  • Ensure alignment of all discipleship efforts with the church’s vision and mission.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Pastor.
