About the Worship Director
The primary purpose of this position is to cultivate an atmosphere that hosts the presence of God, overseeing and managing all aspects of the weekend service, including programming, music, production, and volunteers. This role emphasizes training and developing emerging worship team members and leaders who are passionate about carrying the presence of God. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with the production team on creative planning, songwriting, and music production (as applicable), while also leading in areas aligned with the individual's unique passions and giftings, all with a focus on creating space for divine encounter and transformation.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities
Worship Services (33%)
- Serve as Worship Director over Awaken Church.
- Lead worship vocally and instrumentally (Keys/guitar abilities preferred).
- Build and maintain a culture of worship in alignment with the senior pastor that is participatory, and hosts the presence of God.
- Run efficient and effective rehearsals for Sunday mornings, providing coaching and musical direction to the band and vocalists.
- Communicate to worship and production teams prior to the weekend and prepare to lead all musical and non-musical elements in the weekend services accordingly.
- Manage worship related software: ProP, PCO, Multitracks (clicks and tracks), etc.
- Oversee equipment repairs, purchasing and rentals (w/ Technical Director)
- Manage audio equipment (w/ Technical Director and Production Director).
Volunteer Development (33%):
- Recruit, train and shepherd worship and production volunteers through pastoral care and leadership.
- Work with Production Team to execute other training events/teaching sessions for worship and production.
- Recruit new musicians, worship leaders, and production volunteers.
- Schedule weekend worship volunteers at Awaken (Vocal team and full band).
Leadership (33%):
- Work with Production Team to strategically plan out and execute worship sets and elements for weekend services across all locations. (music, testimonies, special elements, videos).
- Communicate and work with Worship Leaders across ministries weekly about weekend service, and Wednesday evening details, as necessary.
- Work with other Worship Leaders to plan team nights and volunteer recruitment initiatives across locations.
- Lead worship for various events throughout the year, as assigned.
- Assist Production team with video production and post production content (testimony videos, talking heads, promotional videos, service recap videos, sermon recordings, etc.) as assigned.

Professional Skills & Experience Required:
- 5+ years full-time vocational worship leading experience preferred.
- Songwriting and recording experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate a life of integrity and character that reflects a mature, Spirit-led walk with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Strong team building skills, detailed oriented and able to implement the vision of Awaken into compelling worship experiences.
