Associate Pastor Job Description:
The primary responsibilities of the Associate Pastor will be to oversee all aspects of the student ministries and help in organizing and leading the Sunday worship services at St. Paul’s Bible Church. The Associate Pastor will give special attention to the teaching and discipling of the Junior and Senior High ministries, leading them to discover and live out the truths of the Gospel. This position will serve as a spiritual leader and be responsible to develop and implement a comprehensive approach to Student Ministry including, evangelism, teaching, youth group, worship, and prayer. The Associate Pastor will be responsible to train and equip adult volunteers of the student ministries. The Associate Pastor will also oversee the Sunday morning worship team, including, scheduling and leading worship practices.
Pastoral Duties & Responsibilities:
Plan and lead Junior and Senior High Youth Group
Lead Sunday School for the Jr/Sr High
Create and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for Youth Group
Work with the Christian Education Committee to research, review and order age appropriate curriculum for the various student ministries
Identify, train and develop volunteers to assist in the Student Ministries at St. Paul’s Bible Church
Identify, develop, and monitor spiritual growth and spiritual gifts in students
Train students in leadership and develop responsibility, accountability, and leaders and volunteers
Plan and execute student events in collaboration with other Youth Group leaders and volunteers
Foster communication with parents through informational meetings, mailings, and electronic communication
Provide pastoral care for students and their parents in coordination with other pastoral staff as needed
Connect students, parents and volunteers to life and service in the church
Help to plan the Sunday services with the Senior Pastor
Lead the Worship Team: Build positive social dynamics and quality music, organize and practice with the Worship Team for upcoming services with input from the group members, help less-experienced participants become knowledgeable of their instruments and roles, strengthen the individuals on the team by helping them grow in their spiritual formation
In coordination with the Senior Pastor and Elder Board, support the various small groups at St. Paul's Bible Church and assist in training small group leaders
Participate in staff and elder meetings
Qualifications:
Growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
Meets the Scriptural requirements for church leadership found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
Must be in agreement with our [biblical] statement of beliefs and the vision and values of the church
Ability to lead and care for people from a diverse array of cultural, social, educational, and economic backgrounds
Willingness to recruit, motivate, lead, and equip people for ministry
Ability to self-evaluate and make changes when necessary or advised
Willingness to embrace and implement the team’s initiatives, and positively respond to constructive feedback
Have a strong work ethic and high level of initiative to lead with faith, wisdom, and a "can do attitude"
Ability to serve alongside the Senior Pastor in a supportive and collaborative manner
Has the spiritual gift of teaching and a willingness to preach
Experience in planning and leading worship services, including musicians and singers in a blended musical style (or a willingness to learn)
Be open to change and the shifting of responsibilities as growth and ministry develop
Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in church leadership (not required) and a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies (or equivalent)
Status: Full-time
Office hours: To be determined in conjunction with the Senior Pastor
Salary and Benefits:
Salary: Negotiable based on education and experience
Allowance for health care
Vacation: 3 weeks, including 3 Sundays
Pastor’s Conference: All expenses paid (travel, food, hotel, conference) for one conference per year, which has been approved by the Board of Elders
Housing: A two-bedroom apartment located in the church (based on need, utilities included with the apartment.)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Reports to: Senior Pastor and the Board of Elders
