We are a growing, SBC affiliated church in Southeast Texas. We averaged around 240 on Sunday mornings, but have a huge outreach ministry to k-12 graders in our community. We average just north of 200 on Wednesday evenings at the weekly outreach ministry. We are looking for the right fit to take kids and childrens ministries to the next level. Job Description: NextGen Pastor
The NextGen Pastor is responsible for leading and overseeing all ministries that disciple children, youth, and their families, from birth through young adulthood. This role requires a visionary leader with a passion for developing a comprehensive strategy and team to nurture faith and empower the next generation to grow in their relationship with Christ. The NextGen Pastor will collaborate with church leadership to align ministries with the overall mission and vision of the church.
Key Responsibilities
1. Vision and Leadership

Develop and implement a cohesive strategy for children, youth, and young adult ministries, ensuring a seamless transition between age groups.

Cast a compelling vision for the spiritual growth of the next generation, inspiring volunteers, parents, and church members to actively support these ministries.

Recruit, train, and mentor a team of volunteers and staff for NextGen ministries, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
2. Ministry Development

Create engaging programs, events, and experiences that align with biblical teachings and the church’s mission, catering to the spiritual needs of various age groups.

Provide regular teaching and preaching for children, youth, and young adults, ensuring messages are biblically sound and relevant.

Evaluate and implement curriculum that nurtures spiritual growth, biblical literacy, and discipleship.
3. Family Engagement

Partner with parents to equip and encourage them as the primary spiritual leaders in their children’s lives.

Organize workshops, resources, and events to strengthen family relationships and foster a Christ-centered home environment.

Maintain regular communication with families to keep them informed and involved in ministry activities.
4. Team and Volunteer Development

Build a vibrant and well-supported volunteer culture by recruiting, equipping, and encouraging leaders across all NextGen ministries.

Provide ongoing training and support to volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to lead effectively.

Foster a safe and welcoming environment for children, youth, and families by adhering to best practices and safety policies.
5. Outreach and Growth

Engage with the community through creative outreach initiatives to attract unchurched families and connect them to the church.

Partner with local schools, organizations, and events to expand the church’s influence and reach in the community.

Develop strategies to integrate new families and young people into the life of the church.
6. Administrative Oversight

Manage the budget for NextGen ministries, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and responsibly.

Maintain schedules, event planning, and communication platforms to ensure smooth operation of all NextGen programs.

Monitor ministry effectiveness through feedback, participation metrics, and alignment with the church’s overall goals.
7. Collaboration with Church Leadership

Work closely with the lead pastor, church staff, and elders to integrate NextGen ministries into the broader life and mission of the church.

Participate in church-wide planning, staff meetings, and leadership development initiatives.

Serve as an advocate for the next generation within the church’s leadership structure.
Qualifications
-
A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evident in character, conduct, and leadership.

Meets biblical qualifications of a pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

Experience in leading and growing children, youth, or family ministries in a church setting.

Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including children, youth, families, and volunteers.
