Associate Student Minister

ROLE:

The role of the Associate Student Minister (ASM) is to equip volunteers, students, and parents as they seek to grow as disciples of Jesus. As such, the ASM is responsible for providing leadership/development to Middle and High School volunteers as well as assisting in developmentally appropriate curriculum and programs for 6th through 12th grade.

• Have a relationship with Christ that is evident by a daily walk and displays a life of character, spiritual maturity and wisdom, setting an example for staff, congregants, and the community(s) we serve.

• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and leadership ability, leading by example in recruiting and developing effective leaders and volunteers for the work of ministry and building up the body of Christ.

• Think creatively and strategically in the areas of student ministry and family ministry

• Be fully aligned with the message, mission, values and strategy of Cornerstone Christian Church.

Be a self-starter who completes work timely and with a spirit of excellence.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Become a member of Cornerstone Christian Church. • A Bachelor’s degree in ministry or closely related field

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Programming /Events- 50%

A key component in Student ministry is the development/implementation of age- appropriate programming from 6th- 12th grade. Thus, the ASM will focus on the following items:

• Mobilize and maximize student ministry programming in alignment with the mission of Cornerstone

• Help develop and implement age-appropriate Midweek and Weekend Programming

• Help develop and implement age appropriate Small Group Activities for Mid-Week Programming

• Planning, staffing and coordinating Milestone Events such as Graduation, baptism and more.

• Planning, staffing and coordinating for retreats, and events for students and community peers.

Planning, staffing and coordinating other events as decided by Family Ministry Team.

Leadership and Development - 40%

The ASM will assist work in conjunction with the Student Ministry Lead & Family Pastor to provide oversight and implement strategy for Student Ministry.

• Recruit, train, and empower new volunteers

• Ministering to and training current volunteers

Build continuity and encourage collaboration between Ministry areas where students serve. Ensure that ministries and ministry team leaders (both paid and volunteer) are working together to carry out mission, vision, and values.

Other Duties - 10%

From time to time duties will arise that are not part of the daily work, but are part of the job as a pastor of Cornerstone Christian Church. These responsibilities, while infrequent are very important to the ministry of Cornerstone and as such need to be fulfilled with great urgency.

• Be a voice for communication.

• Fulfill pastoral needs as necessary.

• Other duties as assigned. As a team player it is often necessary to do things that are not in our wheelhouse; however, these should be one time and/or temporary parts of our job.
