Position Summary:
The Worship Pastor will provide spiritual and musical leadership for the worship ministry by creating an environment where people can encounter God through meaningful worship experiences for our two unique worship services. This role includes planning, coordinating,
and leading worship services, overseeing worship teams, and nurturing the spiritual development of team members. The Worship Pastor will work collaboratively with church leadership to align the worship ministry with the church’s vision and mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Worship Service Planning and Leadership
- Plan, prepare, and lead engaging worship services that glorify God and encourage congregational participation.
- Select appropriate worship songs and arrangements that align with the message and church vision.
- Lead rehearsals and guide worship team members to prepare spiritually and musically.
- Coordinate the use of multimedia, lighting, sound, and other elements to enhance the worship experience.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers for the worship team, including vocalists, instrumentalists, and technicians.
- Provide spiritual encouragement, mentorship, and leadership development for team members.
- Cultivate a culture of unity, excellence, and humility within the worship ministry.
- Spiritual Leadership
- Model a lifestyle of worship and spiritual maturity.
- Lead the congregation into meaningful worship experiences that reflect biblical principles.
- Work alongside the Elders and Lead Pastor to ensure worship aligns with church values, theology, and mission.
- Production Oversight
- Oversee the Production Manager and give leadership to the technical aspects of worship services, including audio, visual, lighting, and live streaming.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and upgrading of production equipment.
- Administrative Oversight
- Develop and manage the worship ministry budget.
- Organize and maintain resources such as chord charts, lyrics, and planning software.
- Maintain copyright and licensing compliance for music and media use (e.g., CCLI).
- Ensure all worship-related equipment is maintained and in good working order.
- Special Services and Events
- Plan and lead worship for special services such as holidays, weddings, funerals, and church events.
- Collaborate with other ministries (e.g., youth, children, outreach) to integrate worship into their programs as needed.
Qualifications:
- A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through character, lifestyle, and leadership.
- Strong musical ability, including proficiency in vocal performance.
- Experience leading worship in a church setting, with the ability to engage and lead congregations in various worship styles.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train and develop volunteers in both worship and production roles.
- Ability to work well with staff, volunteers, and the broader church body.
- Familiarity with worship planning tools, sound systems, and presentation software (e.g., Planning Center, ProPresenter).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Worship Arts, Music, Theology, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience as a Worship Pastor, Worship Leader, or similar role.
