ABOUT RIVER’S EDGE COMMUNITY CHURCH
River’s Edge Community Church (RECC), a multicultural, intergenerational community of believers on the west side of Lansing, Michigan, is seeking a full-time Youth Pastor. Over the last 24 years, our non-denominational church has grown to over 400 people and keeps growing! God is moving in our area, and we are enjoying the ride!
We are currently in the midst of a four-million-dollar building expansion and renovation! While construction is ongoing, we plan to return to our redesigned building in the late spring of 2025. With an expanded worship center and lobby, a dedicated kids ministry wing, and more capacity than ever for connection, we cannot wait to see how God uses our new space!
ABOUT OUR STUDENT MINISTRIES
Our youth group meets on Sunday nights, bringing middle school and high school students together for much of the evening, with grade-based small groups and occasional separation for the teaching. We value excellent weekly programming, special events to drive engagement, and intentional relationship-building activities. There is a dedicated team of volunteers in place, invested student leaders, and passionate support for youth ministry from the church’s Leadership Team. Our church is uniquely positioned with connections to multiple school districts, including one of the most diverse school districts in Michigan, and other ministries in the area.
We desire to find a leader who can help students live more like Jesus, cultivate diversity in our student ministry, and connect students with our church family. We are looking for someone great at building relationships with students, comfortable cultivating a team of volunteers, excited to build upon a solid foundation, and passionate about creating more opportunities for more students to hear more about Jesus!
OVERVIEW OF THE YOUTH PASTOR ROLE
RECC is seeking a full-time Youth Pastor to provide oversight, leadership, and vision to our youth ministry.
The position is full-time with an annual salary between $42,000 and $52,000 (commensurate with education and experience) plus medical and retirement benefits. We prefer but do not require a Bachelor’s degree in a ministry-related field and some ministry-related experience (volunteer or paid). The projected start date is flexible, based on a mutual understanding of what works best for the candidate and the ministry. But we are ready to welcome the right candidate as soon as they can start!

Being "a church you could invite someone to” was the unifying desire that brought our church together. Nearly 25 years later, we are driven by the same call.
It began with simple backyard gatherings and then Sunday morning services at different locations over the years. We’ve been in our current building since 2014 and are looking forward to remodeling and expanding it in the coming months.
While there have certainly been challenges, God’s faithfulness has always been clear. Through it all, we have stayed committed to creating more opportunities for more people to hear more about Jesus. There’s no better life than a life following Jesus!
