Role Overview
The Preschool Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Preschool Minister in the development and execution of a comprehensive preschool ministry that effectively facilitates the spiritual foundation and discipleship of children, ages birth through kindergarten within The Cross Church high-expectation culture and mission to “Spread God’s Fame by making disciples of All People”. The Preschool Coordinator reports to the Preschool Minister.

Schedule
Office Hours:
Monday – Thursday 8AM to 5PM
approximately 34-36 hours
Ministry Hours:
Wednesday/ Saturday/ Sunday
approximately 4-6 hours
*The schedule for this position may vary depending upon weekend assignments and ministry events that occur in the evenings and on weekends.
Responsibilities and Expectations
• Provide support in the execution of a dynamic, Biblical and Christ-centered educational ministry for children.
• Assist in the implementation of curriculum and strategies for large group lessons, weekend Growth Groups and mid-week activities.
• Provide leadership and direction for special events and activities such as Wednesday nights, camps, age-appropriate gatherings and summer programs.
• Recruit, train, equip, disciple and show appreciation for ministry volunteers.
• Perform administrative duties that are required to support the preschool ministry such as printing curriculum, attendance records, promotion materials, correspondence, scheduling resources, collecting/recording payments, event registration and other duties as needed.
• Organize, stock, reorder and gather supplies to support ministry events and volunteers.
• Provide pastoral care, encouragement, and counseling to children, parents, and families, such as professions of faith in Christ, baptism, family matters, and bereavement as needed.
• Help maintain a safe, clean and appealing environment for children.
• Steward church resources with care, such as furniture, fixtures, equipment, supplies and other resources used by preschool ministry.
• Attend a worship service, staff meetings, ministry team meetings each week.
• Foster a cooperative, healthy and motivating relationship with staff, volunteers and church families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Critical Skills

• Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
• Established pattern of Bible study and prayer.
• A personal conviction and calling to preschool ministry.
• Previous experience in a children’s ministry role at a Baptist church or a comparable denomination.
• Ability to understand and relate to children and families.
• Passionate about seeing families grow together in their faith.
• Experience with recruiting, motivating, equipping and scheduling volunteers.
• An understanding that every child should be known, loved and cared for like Jesus.
• Ability to use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality.
• Flexibility to serve where needed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
• Organized and the ability to give attention to details.
• Ability to troubleshoot, multitask and dream big.
• Competency in computer/web-based technology with the capacity to learn new applications quickly.
• The Cross Church membership is expected.
• Ability to speak, read and write English.
• Sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.
• Passing criminal, financial and sexual misconduct background checks required.

The Cross Church has been impacting Wylie, surrounding towns, and places around the world for 151 years. It is located in one of the fastest growing areas of Collin County, Texas. Currently, 11 full-time pastors and ministers serve a weekly average of 1,100 in discipleship groups and over 2,500 in worship services. Student ministry averages nearly 300 students, 7th through 12th grade. In addition, we host weekday programs and ministries, discipleship events, camps, mission trips, and community outreach events on an annual budget of $5.7 million.
