Job title:Student Pastor/Director
Reports to:Next Gen Pastor
Job purpose: The Student Pastor/Director role is to ensure the student population of the church (6th-12th) are given an environment to come to know God and others more through relational programs and group activities that involve “Knowing God’s Word” (teaching), “Trusting His People”(Discipleship), and “Doing His Work”(Serving others).
Duties and responsibilities
-Develop year long youth programs and activities in coordination with Next Gen Pastor for junior and senior high youth (6th -12th grade) that create an atmosphere for discipleship/fellowship and a growing relationship with Christ that align with the greater vision/mission of the church.
-Train, recruit, equip and disciple volunteers to work with youth, and assist in activities.
-Promote and encourage youth to attend summer camps, C.I.Y./ Mix/Move and youth retreats, etc.
-Teach and preach at various gatherings not limited to youth gatherings.
-Create worship experiences for youth to help nurture spiritual growth.
-Work with the Children's Director and Next /Gen Pastor to help transition new youth into student --ministry.
-Have a presence in the school systems where youth attend.
-Counsel youth/ partnership with Parents.
-Conducts weddings and funerals when requested.
-Weekly meeting with Next Gen Pastor for planning/discipleship.
-Coordinating with Next Gen Pastor and Lead Pastor on church wide studies and Family Sundays.
-Yearly Planning retreat for programming of Ministries.
-Meet regularly with students to develop relationship and discipleship.
-Coordinate with property director to maintain student buiding space.
-Understands the tennants of the Christian Church Movement.
Qualifications
-Formal education should include a minimum of High School education and Bachelors degree in biblical based degree,comparable degree, or experience.
-Problem solver
-Multi task oriented
-Creative
Working conditions
-Flexibility in weekly schedule (weekends, evenings, mornings will occur)
-Flexibility in hours (some weeks will require additional hours past 40 minimum)
-Some physical labor will occur
Development requirements
-To continually pursue Jesus and grow in relationship with Him by:
-Required to attend at least one conference or seminar in the area of primary leadership. This is outside of attending conferences with youth for their development. ( development money provided)
-Network with other Youth Directors
Compensation
$50,000 base
403B with 6% match
Health Reimbursement Account- $200 per month currently with plans to increase.
$1000 a year for career development.
2 weeks vacation, 5 sick days, 2 personal days and 1 day per quarter for spiritual rest and renewal.
Rocklane Christian Church has existed since the late 1800s. We are a multi generational church that sits on the Edge of Greenwood Indiana (a suburb of Indianapolis) We are a mix of rural, suburban, generational, new, and everything in between families. In the past 3 years we have expanded our campus by adding a new Childrens area, Foyer, and new Worship Center. We are a connected to the restoration movement and exist independently. We are governed by a consensus of Elders and currently have 7 full time staff and 3 part time staff. Our mission: We exist to help others know God. We believe this mission applies to everyone. It starts with knowing Christ. Every person, no matter their maturity in Christ, has a next step to know Him more. As of March 5th we will be moving to 2 identical services; one at 9am an one at 10:30am where we sing both hymns and contemporary music, pray, hear the Word of God and participate in communion each week. We have a significant amount of congregational lead ministries within or church such as Sunday School, small groups, picklball, workout groups, grief and widow ministries, hospital ministry, quilting, mom and dads groups, discipleship and mentor groups, etc.
