Position Overview
The Technical Director will be responsible for setting the spiritual tone for the Technical Ministry. The position will oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Technical Ministry in regards to audio, lighting, and video. The Technical Directors ultimate goal is to ensure that weekly services, church events and all related activities and ministries are supported by using technology efficiently, effectively and strategically to enhance the experience of those attending.
Responsibilities
- In partnership and consultation with the Senior and Executive Pastors of Kessid Church, the Tech Director will oversee the general Tech and Sound Department.
- Maintain a healthy relationship and work closely with the Worship Pastor to support the department/ministry for both the Uptown and Columbia campuses.
- Provide direct leadership for the overall scheduling, planning, set up and execution of services, gatherings and various events at the Uptown and Columbia campuses.
- Run sound and oversee tech teams on a regular basis and provide space for training and equipping other team members in various departments.
- Develop and schedule teams to run camera, audio, slides, sound for weekly gatherings and various events.
- Provide opportunities for church members interested in serving within the sound/tech ministry through training/classes.
- Maintain a reliable system for providing technical support for all worship services and church events.
- Be an expert on audio mixing, monitor mixing, and audio recording.
- Create and maintain a lighting experience that meets the environment's needs for services. Work with the Program Director to build the lighting flow.
- Recruit, train, equip, schedule and encourage volunteer servants to operate at a high professional level.
- Utilize programs such as OBS, Vimeo Livestream, ProTools, ProPresenter and Adobe Premiere.
- Prepare stage for all presentations.
- Collaborate with Pastoral Staff during production and logistic meetings to ensure that all aspects of the technical experience are being met.
- Update and maintain production technologies.
- Oversee video production for worship services that include capturing, live streaming, editing and uploading recordings to the church websites.
- Provide indirect leadership and serve as a resource person to support the overall execution and performance of the worship services and various events at the Columbia campus.
- Develop and manage the sound/tech budget in consultation with the Executive Pastor and Columbia campus leaders.
- Communicate weekly with the Columbia campus sound tech/program director(s).
- Assist with other sound/tech-related needs as necessary.
- Manage Kessid-owned musical instruments and their maintenance.
- The Tech Director will maintain regular office hours.
- Responsible for ordering, replacing and logging all equipment for both campuses.
Skills and Abilities
- Successful experience in all aspects of production, logistics, and technology.
- Experience with ProPresenter, Multitracks, OBS, ProTools, Adobe and more.
- Record of success as a team builder.
- Audio, video, and lighting experience, as well as a strong ability to troubleshoot in all of these areas.
- Strong organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate several activities at once and quickly analyze to solve specific problems with a Christ like demeanor.
- Ability to relate, inspire, and motivate teams of volunteers and leaders.
- Commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth.
Education and Experience
- Formal training in production and related disciplines.
- Must have hands-on experience with technology in a modern worship production environment.
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Pay Range
- Depending on experience
- $25-$35/hr
