Passionate about nurturing the next generation in their faith journey? Do you want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and teenagers in Hampton Roads? Smithfield Christian Church, a thriving community of Christ-followers in Southeastern Virginia, is seeking a dynamic individual to join our ministerial team as our Next Gen Minister. This full-time position offers the opportunity to use your God-given gifts and talents to oversee and develop ministries catering to children and students, from birth through twelfth grade as well as manage the social media and online presence of SCC. If you're ready to lead with vision, compassion, and dedication, we invite you to explore this exciting opportunity further.

Overview:

The Next Gen Minister is a part-time position overseeing and developing the ministries that serve the young people of Smithfield Christian Church, ages birth through twelfth grade, as well as manage our social media and online presence.

About Smithfield Christian Church:

Smithfield Christian Church is an independent, non-denominational church in Southeastern Virginia (Hampton Roads) with the mission to Love Like Jesus. In the past years SCC has seen significant growth of Sunday worship attendance, growth in "next steps" like baptisms and Life Group participation, and growth in our ministries to children and students. In addition to the current growth, SCC is located in Isle of Wight County, which is the 7th fastest growing county/independent city in Virginia and our property is across the street from a new housing development that is currently being built. Because of this current and potential growth, and through prayerful consideration, our leadership has seen fit to pursue the new staff position of Next Gen Minister to lead and develop the current and future ministries to our children and students, ages birth through twelfth grade, as well as manage our social media and online presence.

Currently, the programing of SCC's children's ministry is primarily on Sunday mornings with a nursery, toddler class, preschool-kindergarten class, and an elementary-aged worship time. The programming of SCC's youth ministry is primarily on Sunday evenings with a combined 6th-12th grade Life Group with activities, a lesson, and group discussions, as well as events throughout the year. SCC has one worship service at 11am on Sunday, but beginning February 2, 2025, SCC will add a 9am service as well with children's programing.
