Vision Statement

The Children’s Ministries Director of Reach Church provides leadership and supervision of all Children’s Ministries and extends to all respective leaders and support staff.  He/she shall also identify emerging needs of the church’s ministry to children (and families) and establish comprehensive ministry strategies and corresponding leaders to meet those needs at Reach Church.

 

Qualifications

  1. A member of Reach Church.
  2. Has satisfactorily completed all relevant screening procedures and background checks mandated for children’s workers of Reach Church.
  3. Children’s Ministries Director is expected to regularly attend the services at Reach Church.
  4. Both the Children’s Ministries Director and his or her spouse (if applicable) are expected to fully participate in the congregational life of the church while demonstrating full support of the pastor and leadership team.
  5. Demonstrates the skill sets, proficiency, and passion necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this job description

 

General Responsibilities

  1. The Director of Reach Kids is considered a full-time position (40-hour min/wk). Reach Kids Director will be present each Sunday (8:30 am-3:00 pm) and Tuesday (9 am-5 pm), with the remaining hours dispersed throughout the week on the property.
  2. Shall staff and supervise the Sunday morning children’s discipleship programs for children up through the 8th
  3. Shall staff and supervise Rangers and Mpact Girls discipleship ministries at Reach Church.
  4. Staff and supervise seasonal Children’s-focused outreach events (e.g., a Christmas program, an Easter event, or a Kids' crusade).
  5. Shall create and facilitate the opportunity for events focused on developing parenting skills or child/parent relationships. Minimum of two events a year. 

 

Administrative Duties

  1. Shall maintain an organizational environment to foster proficient and effective ministry activity throughout all children’s ministries; this includes sufficient staff meetings, evaluations, communiqués, and other means of coordination and control.
  2. Shall develop an effective strategy for promoting the children’s ministries within the church and the outside community.
  3. Shall establish a leadership team that will assist in the planning, coordination and execution of children’s ministries objectives.
  4. The director of Reach Kids is responsible for recruiting, supervising, training, and developing support staff for children’s ministries. The Director shall hold quarterly team training events.
  5. Shall enforce the allotted line-item budgets assigned to the children’s ministries in the church’s annual budget and shall remain accountable to the Board of Trustees in doing so
  6. Shall attend weekly staff meetings.
  7. Shall conduct background checks of children and youth workers and maintain secure files within the church office. 

Pastoral Duties

  1. Discipleship of students—The children of Reach Kids shall have the opportunity of a Christ-centered, bible based approach toward ministry the focus on scriptural awareness, salvation, water baptism, prayer, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
    • All Reach kids shall demonstrate excellence in scriptural awareness.
    • Al Reach kids shall have a recorded salvation experience.
    • All Reach kids shall be taught water baptism, and those of age shall be allowed to be water-baptized.
    • All Reach Kids shall know how to pray and demonstrate the ability to pray.
    • All Reach Kids will be taught about and have the opportunity to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
  2. Discipleship of staff—The Director of Reach Church will seek to utilize every opportunity to disciple children’s ministry staff members so that they are equipped to disciple Reach Kids in the areas of scriptural awareness, salvation, water baptism, prayer, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
  3. Community—The Director of Reach Kids will create a team environment that fosters relationship development, a love for kids ministry, and the opportunity for ministry among its members.
  4. Parents: The Director of Reach Kids must be visible and available to all parents during Sunday morning discipleship opportunities. The Director will strive to build relationships and a pattern of communication that demonstrates value for each Reach family. The director will also conduct visitations to families of children in crises in homes and hospitals and be available to pray for and counsel children and parents.
  5. Follow—up: The Director of Reach Kids will monitor new families, missing families, and inconsistent families to encourage continued and increased attendance.
