Job Opening: Youth Pastor, North Fresno Church  

Denomination: Mennonite Brethren – The Believers Church Tradition  

Weekly Attendance: 200-250  

Location: Fresno, California – A vibrant city of 600,000 in Central California  

 

Position Title: Youth Pastor  

Purpose of Position:  The Youth Pastor (YP) will lead the congregation in helping youth discover and live out the way of Jesus. Under the guidance of the Lead Pastor and Leadership Board, the YP will disciple and mentor junior high, high school, and college students/young adults while supporting their families. This role will involve crafting a ministry strategy that ignites passion for Christ and fosters lasting faith among teens.

Position Summary:  The Youth Pastor will oversee the spiritual development and discipleship of youth, including youth group gatherings, midweek programs, and outreach to the broader community. This leader will model a deep love for Jesus and inspire youth to walk in faith. Key responsibilities include:  

  • Leading ministry efforts for junior high and high school students  
  • Developing and implementing engaging, Jesus-centered curriculum  
  • Creating outreach strategies to connect with new students and families  
  • Recruiting, training, and leading volunteer teams  
  • Supporting parents in their role as spiritual mentors to their teens  
  • Encouraging youth to use their gifts in service to Christ and the church  
  • Managing the youth ministry budget to ensure effective use of resources  
  • Planning and overseeing youth events and trips  

Education/Experience:  A bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have at least two years of experience working with youth in a ministry setting. Current college seniors with a passion for youth ministry are encouraged to apply.  

Salary and Benefits:  This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package. Benefits include a housing allowance, health insurance, and a matching 401(k) plan. North Fresno Church partners with the Mennonite Brethren Foundation, offering mortgage assistance to qualified pastors. Fresno is an affordable housing area compared to other parts of California.
