Purpose:
The role of the Executive Pastor is to assist the Senior Pastor in executing the strategic direction of the church under the direction of the Elder Board. The Executive Pastor will ensure that the systems, practices, and policies of CBF responsibly and effectively support its vision and ministry activities. The Executive Pastor functions as the administrative lead while managing CBF’s administrative systems and employment activities, supervising all staff, overseeing office operations and church facilities as well as branding and communications. The Executive Pastor supports the purpose, values and strategy of Community Bible Fellowship Church and its mission.
Job Requirements:
- At least 3 years of administrative leadership including business experience in a church or non-profit environment.
- More than a year of experience with accounting processes and procedures in a church or non-profit environment.
- At least a year of communications and/or social media experience.
- Has benefits and payroll management experience along with a strong understanding of HR functions and management.
- Possesses strong administrative skills along with demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and management skills.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as listening skills.
- Possesses an undergraduate degree; a major in Business Administration is preferred.
- A seminary degree or master’s in theology is highly desirable.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Under the direction of the Senior Pastor, execute the administration of Community Bible Fellowship Church through appropriate staff, committee chairs and Elders including the completion of business, facility, and logistical support functions.
- Support the Senior Pastor’s and Elders’ vision for CBF’s future while working closely with the Elder Board and the staff to identify the needs of CBF and setting attainable and measurable goals to satisfy those needs.
- Ensure staffing, facilities, and programs are appropriately and effectively aligned to best meet strategic goals set by the Elder Board while ensuring CBF’s technology infrastructure creates efficiencies for staff and volunteers.
- Oversee facilities planning and maintenance functions including managing contracts with outside organizations providing services to CBF.
- Provide leadership and guidance for any committee that is planning for Phase II or planning the implementation of new systems or processes at CBF while providing administrative oversight to the activities which allow CBF to remain true to its mission and vision.
- Review, create and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure effective and compliant operations while guiding the staff in goal setting and project management in support of those operations.
- Evaluate the performance of all staff annually, clarify their roles and provide coaching guidance as needed with a focus on growing individuals in their role based on their strengths and weaknesses. Also, take the lead in staff discipline when needed.
- Coordinate staff meetings and other activities in partnership with the Senior Pastor while overseeing all office functions.
- Manage the hiring of any new staff positions by overseeing the entire process from development of the position description to onboarding the new employee.
- Monitor the financial accounting processes for CBF, including the following: review accounting records and statements, provide oversight for the Accounting Manager, provide oversight of payroll and employee benefit functions as well as required governmental filings.
- Provide direction and oversight for both internal and external communication including print and on-line ensuring the message remains focused and consistent with CBF’s vision and mission.
- In partnership with the Senior Pastor maintain and implement regular contact with church members while monitoring the pulse of the congregation through research and evaluation.
- In partnership with the Senior Pastor provide oversight of weddings, funerals, and other special occasion events at CBF.
- Provide occasional pulpit fill as needed while participating in other evangelism or outreach activities as directed by the Senior Pastor.
- Perform other pastoral or administrative duties as requested by the Senior Pastor.
