GENERAL SUMMARY 

Individual is primarily responsible to plan, promote, coordinate, and administer ministry to senior adults. Reach, teach, minister, bear witness of salvation in Jesus, worship and interpret the work of the church.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Majority of duties performed, but not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary.)

                                                                                                                                                                

  • Develop and lead in providing a vision for the Adult and Senior Adult Ministry that collaborates with the vision of the Church. 

 

  • Enlist, train, and develop volunteer leadership in ministry regarding Bible study, discipleship, fellowships and travel ministries.

 

  • Serve as resource person for volunteer leadership concerning teaching materials, media, and available ministry tools. 

 

  • Work with Department Teachers and Leaders to minister to the needs of every adult on our Sunday School Roll, plus each visitor, and prospective member.

 

  • Lead in the development and coordination of an evangelistic outreach ministry.  Including churchwide visitation weekly and supporting ministry specific opportunities of follow-up to be coordinated by the lead minister in the area of outreach, i.e. child, family, etc.

 

  • Coordinate efforts to utilize people software system within staff protocols to be sure that every guest has multiple points of contacts.

 

  • Keep before the staff the value of evangelism opportunities in strategic planning and have at least annually a training for evangelism.

 

  • Coordinate all Pastoral Care, which includes hospital admissions and home bound member visits

 

  • Prepare, submit and administer the budget for all aspects of the Adult and Senior Adult Ministry.

 

  • Support the ongoing ministry of the church and lead by example through faithfulness in tithing and worship attendance.

 

  • Develop personal spiritual growth through a regular program of prayer and Bible study.

 

  • Accept any other responsibilities assigned by the Business Administrator and the Pastor.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certifications normally required to perform the duties of this position.   • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
  • Adequate interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be a baptized Christian specifically recognized by the Church, and be in agreement with the accepted theological doctrines of the Church.

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)

Internal: Work is normally performed in a climate controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.). No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of job duties.

External: Outside travel is required.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS (The physical effort generally associated with this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position. Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds such as files, documents, and computer printouts. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS (Positions with which incumbent has contact and the reason. Peers are employees with similar authority and decision making responsibilities who may or may not report to the same manager.)

Supervision of Others:

  1. Work directly with all education ministries to promote the senior ministry in the church.
  2. Responsible to the Business Administrator.
  3. Responsible to the Senior Pastor.
  4. Responsible to the Personnel Committee as covered in the Personnel Committee duties.
