Full Time Senior Pastor

Calvary Bible Church (CBC) is seeking a biblically minded Senior Pastor to preach God’s word, share the gospel, to care for and lead our congregation. We are looking for a motivated senior pastor who has been called to the ministry to shepherd the current congregation and promote church growth throughout our community.

Essential Qualifications

1. An ordained minister with a degree from an accredited seminary or equivalent.
2. Be gifted in teaching, preaching and evangelism.
3. Significant biblical and theological knowledge
4. Consistent and disciplined spiritual life consistent with I Timothy 1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
5. Adhere to, preach and defend the core beliefs of CBC as detailed in our constitution and doctrine of faith.

Desirable qualifications

1. 2-3 or more years of ministry / leadership experience.
2. A vision for evangelism, missions, spiritual and physical growth.
3. Be experienced and committed to a collaborative leadership model.

Expected responsibilities of a Senior Pastor

1. Provide spiritual, pastoral, outreach and servant leadership to the congregation
2. Serve as administrator of church business
3. Prepare weekly sermons and interpret biblical scripture for the congregation.
4. Visit and comfort the sick, shut-in, and bereaved
5. Provide counseling to the congregational members.
6. Officiate at special services (baptisms, weddings, funerals, infant dedications, etc…)
7. Participant and/or assist in church events.
8. Attend regular church leadership meetings.
9. Work closely with, and be help responsible to the church leadership board and the congregation.

Church Description

Calvary Bible Church is a non-denominational, church established as a mission minded church in the late 1950’s. Church membership consists of 40+ households representing various generations and cultures. The worship team embraces a variety of hymns and conservative contemporary song selections that address the ages of the congregation. The physical buildings consist of a chapel, a large educational wing, a large gym and a fellowship hall.

CBC is located in Southern Maryland, a bedroom community of Washington DC and Baltimore. There is some fluctuation in growth due to our proximity to Patuxent Naval Air Station and Andrews Air Force Base.

Our mission is to build a community of believers wholly committed to Jesus Christ, connected to one another in love, and challenged to share the Gospel everywhere.
