Associate Pastor

The Associate Pastor shall serve on the staff of Waypoint Church KC, under the direction and supervision of the senior pastor. While having some general pastoral duties, his specific areas of responsibility will include: Worship, Youth, Missions, and Discipleship.

While we at Waypoint recognize that we have roots in the Reformation, we are not “Reformed” nor do we intend to move towards “Calvinistic” theology and practice.

Qualifications

1. A member of WAYPOINT in good standing, or willing & qualified to become one.
2. Agreement with WAYPOINT statement of faith, vision, and mission.
3. Demonstrates a consistent prayer and devotional life.
4. Demonstrates ability to work with and teach youth.
5. Demonstrates musical and vocal abilities.
6. Ability to work with and organize volunteers.
7. Willingness to learn and grow in areas of personal faith, professional knowledge, and practical skills.
8. Willingness to do further education through seminars, classes, etc.
9. Meets the qualifications of 1Timothy 3:1-7 & Titus 1:6-9.
10. Demonstrates a passion for youth and their spiritual journey .
11. Demonstrates a passion for leading others in worship.

Experience/Education

1. Prior experience leading both traditional and contemporary worship.
2. Prior experience organizing and directing youth programs.
3. Seminary masters degree (or in process) preferred .
4. Ordained minister.

Time Commitments

1. Regular ministry, preparation, etc.:
   1. 40-50hrs/week
   2. Off 2 days each week to be agreed upon with the senior pastor.
   3. He is expected to be available in addition to this for emergencies and special occasions.
   4. He is expected to attend all services conducted by WAYPOINT, weekly staff meetings, and other ministry related meetings as necessary.
2. He is expected to be on duty during major Christian Holidays such as Christmas & Easter.

Responsibilities/duties

Associate Pastoral Duties

A variety of pastoral duties including preaching occasionally, counseling, and conducting meetings.

Worship Ministry

Planning and leading both worship services, contemporary and traditional.

            Youth Ministry

Overseeing youth ministry and hands on leading where needed.

Missions Ministry

Lead the church’s mission efforts through guiding the missions team.

Discipleship Ministry

Overseeing the intentional discipleship process of the church.
