Overview
The Video Storyteller will focus on creating compelling video stories that engage and inspire our audiences. Working closely with the communications team and other Wooddale ministries, this role is essential in producing high-quality, narrative-driven video content that reflects the mission and message of Wooddale Church.

Responsibilities

  • Production & Editing: Film and edit high-quality video content for Sunday services, social media, websites and other marketing and communication channels.
  • Storytelling: Collaborate with ministry teams to understand project goals, crafting videos that tell meaningful stories and connect deeply with the target audience.
  • Post-Production: Use Adobe Premiere/DaVinci Resolve (and other relevant software) to edit footage, add graphics and apply sound design and color grading to produce professional-quality videos.
  • Photography: Capture still images when required, supporting video projects with high-quality photos for social media and marketing materials.
  • Asset Management: Organize and maintain digital assets (video footage, photos, project files) in an efficient and accessible manner.
  • Equipment Setup & Operation: Manage camera, lighting, and sound equipment for video shoots, ensuring each production meets high-quality storytelling standards.
  • Time Management: Manage multiple projects while keeping deadlines, always maintaining a focus on high-quality, narrative-driven work.
  • Feedback Incorporation: Integrate feedback from team members to refine video content, ensuring each video is engaging and aligned with our storytelling goals.
  • Additional duties assigned by the Executive Director of Communications as needed.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum two years of experience in video storytelling within a creative agency, in-house marketing team or church setting.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating skills in storytelling, filming and video editing across various platforms.
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere and the Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, etc.). Experience with other editing and sound design software is a plus.
  • Strong ability to craft compelling stories through film, with a keen understanding of pacing, structure and visual storytelling techniques.
  • Experience with photography is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of film production equipment, including cameras, lighting and audio gear. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate storytelling concepts and ideas clearly.
  • Handles direction, feedback and critique professionally.
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach, demonstrating the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A passion for ministry and a commitment to the mission and values of Wooddale Church.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, work independently and handle confidential information professionally.
  • Subscribe to and affirm the Statement of Faith and Covenant of Wooddale Church.
  • Must become or remain a member in good standing of Wooddale Church.
  • Be a regular participant in public worship at Wooddale Church.

  Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to use office equipment effectively. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for reading documents and computer screens. The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

Expected Work Hours & Travel

  • Typical work hours are Sunday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Evening, weekend and extended hours, holidays and other events may be required.
