General Description
The Student Pastor is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the Student Ministry and Student Ministry staff, leading all functional areas to accomplish the church’s mission to disciple the next generation and their families.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead ministry to 6th – 12th grade students and families in alignment with the mission of the church.
- Lead student ministry staff in the establishment and ongoing direction of ministry that effectively reaches the church’s demographic, ensuring the accomplishment of the overall mission.
- Lead and oversee all student ministry adult volunteers. This includes vetting and training new leaders to effectively minister to students and managing and shepherding volunteer leaders as they serve.
- Intentionally build lasting relationships with students, parents, staff, and volunteers. This often includesfellowshipping and interacting with students and families outside of the church building.
- Plan, organize, and implement student events such as camps, retreats, mission trips, service projects, etc.
- Faithfully teach and preach God’s word to students weekly.
- Develop and implement biblical curriculum for students’ small groups, Bible studies, sermon series, etc.
- Provide pastoral care for students and/or parents of students.
- Mentor and disciple 1-5 students throughout each semester.
- Coordinate and work with various ministry leaders and staff members, especially the Pastoral and Senior Staff.
- Employ biblical principles in the management of all resources (personnel, budget, office materials, etc.).
Qualifications
- Meets the spiritual qualifications listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
- Bachelor’s degree required. Seminary education is preferred.
- Student ministry experience is preferred.
- Agrees fully with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
