Children's Director

Children’s Director - Passion Community Church, Decatur, IL (Church size/450-500)

Purpose:

The Children’s Director must fulfill his or her duties with excellence and ministry appropriateness. This person is responsible for growing and leading the children, newborn through 6^th grade, and their families at Passion. This person is committed to the recruitment, directing, and development of lay leaders in the children’s ministry.

The person filling the position at Passion Community Church will be a vital part of the Passion Kids team and the Passion staff, using innovative and intentional ministry to fulfill its varied responsibilities.

Required Skills:

This individual will have accepted Jesus Christ as the leader and forgiver or his or her life and is committed to growing in their walk with Jesus Christ. This person will have a strong biblical foundation.

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience working with young children

Experience in ministry or volunteering in ministry

Must be willing to pass a background check

He or she must be able to work in a multi-staff setting with other ministry professionals maintaining interpersonal and relational skills. He or she must demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team to accomplish ministry goals. His or her beliefs must coincide with the Passion Community Church Statement of Faith.

As a member of the staff and the congregation, it is expected this person will continue professional and spiritual development through appropriate classes, bible studies, involvement in small group ministries, or other appropriate means.

Essential Job Functions:

General oversight of Passion Kidz at Passion Community Church including, but not limited to:

• Attend/Oversee, prepare lessons and materials for Sunday mornings
• Set up classrooms
• Prepare snacks
• Create and maintain volunteer schedule
• Develop relationships with congregation, families, and volunteers – requiring availability to those who may be in need, which may require time outside of normal working hours
• Plan and run summer Kidz camp
• Plan holiday events (Friendsgiving, Christmas, Easter egg hunt, Promotion Sunday, etc)
• Lead and organize Pumpkin Patch field trips (month of September/October)
• Plan kids outreach events
• Serves and assists with or leading: journey teams, safety team, prayer team, operation Christmas child, etc
• Assist the Lead Pastor and leadership team in developing and accomplishing the overall mission, vision, and shared objectives Passion Community Church.
• Perform other related work (ministry and administrative) as required or requested.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time position under the overall oversight of the Elders of Passion Community Church. This staff member reports directly to the church’s Lead Pastor.

A professional approach in speech and dress and spiritual attitude is always expected.

Salary: compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Adherence to scripture as a guide for Christian lifestyles, behavior and respect for authority is expected.
