JOB OVERVIEW
Resurrection Methodist Church seeks a Worship Leader who will work with the Senior Pastor and the Worship Team to design and lead weekly worship for a blended congregation.The ideal candidate is a spiritually mature, musically talented individual who can bridge traditional and
contemporary worship styles in a way that unites and inspires.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads authentic, engaging worship that includes a variety of musical styles suitable for blended
congregational singing;
- Builds the necessary volunteer teams including but not necessarily limited to vocalists, small group
singers, instrumentalists, and audio/visual technicians to carry out the worship ministry of
Resurrection;
- Oversees the scheduling and communication to worship leaders, worship service team members,
and audio/visual technicians for the weekly Sunday worship service and special events;
- Provides coaching and training to volunteers including but not necessarily limited to vocalists,
small group singers, instrumentalists, and audio/visual technicians;
- Ensures all worship service team members have access to songs for the week;
- Creates and maintains a song database for Resurrection;
- Trains musicians on new songs;
- Directs all weekly activities and rehearsals required to facilitate weekly worship;
QUALIFICATIONS
- An associate’s degree or higher with a concentration in music and a minimum of two (2) years of
experience leading worship; or, in lieu of an associate’s degree, a minimum of five (5) years of
experience leading worship.
- Ability to read music;
- A basic understanding of music theory;
- Knowledge of both traditional and contemporary gospel, hymns and praise & worship genres are
required; if the Worship Leader is unfamiliar with a particular genre, he/she will work to familiarize
himself/herself with that genre as well as keep himself/herself abreast of current trends;
- Demonstrated vocal abilities and proficiency on keyboards.
